BREAKING: Arsenal face nightmare fixture schedule because of Champions League draw

The team led by Mikel Arteta will be aware of potential springtime developments.

Looking at the Gunners’ next slate of games won’t make Arsenal supporters happy.

In the league stage of this year’s Champions League, Mikel Arteta’s team overcame a deficit to defeat Girona, who had already been eliminated.

It guaranteed that Arsenal would finish in the top eight of the championship and kept Arteta and company from going to the dreaded play-off round with teams like Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.

However, Arteta will need to manage what appears to be a challenging run of games when their Champions League campaign returns in the spring.

This is because, between the two legs of their last-16 match, Arsenal has games against Manchester United and Chelsea planned.

Arsenal knows they will play either AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven, Feyenoord, or Juventus in the knockout stages, even though the draw hasn’t been finalised yet.

Regardless of who wins the draw, the Premier League team will undoubtedly start the match as the favourites, but the north Londoners will have a difficult test.

The first leg of Arsenal’s last-16 match will be played in the Netherlands or Italy in the middle of the week. Then, they will go to Old Trafford to play United, and on Tuesday or Wednesday, they will welcome their Champions League opponents back to the Emirates for the return game.

Given that Chelsea must travel the short distance across the capital for their Premier League match the following weekend, the second leg will be over quickly.

And even if Arteta’s team makes it through unscathed, they would face a similar dilemma if they advance to the quarterfinals and ultimately the semi-finals.

A Premier League home game against Crystal Palace will kick off what might be a season-defining week, followed by a possible home or away matchup with their Champions League rivals in the final four.

The second leg of the semi-finals is set to take place right before Arsenal’s league matchup with Liverpool, followed by Bournemouth at home in the Premier League.

If the two are still competing for the Premier League crown, just think of the pressure that would be on the line.

In fact, if Arsenal and Liverpool are pitted against one another in the Champions League semi-finals, there is a chance that they will face each other three times in as many games.

A sneak peek at what Arteta and Arsenal might experience in the remaining games of the season.
