Brazil boss Dorival Júnior has opened up on his decision to axe Casemiro from his squad
After being left out of Brazil’s squad for the Copa America this summer, Casemiro’s season has gotten worse and there is little chance that the Manchester United star will be able to get back into the starting lineup.
Casemiro’s international career is virtually over, according to Brazil’s manager Dorival Júnior.
The Manchester United player was not included in the Selecao’s preliminary roster for the Copa America competition this summer. Over the past ten years, Casemiro has been a mainstay of the Brazil squad, garnering 75 caps and winning the Copa America in 2019.
But Dorival has now made the decision to deliver a severe blow as his season continues to encounter problems. Although permitted to have 26 players in his squad, the Brazil manager has only chosen 23, and Casemiro is still not included.
Instead, midfielders Lucas Paqueta of West Ham, Andreas Pereira of Fulham, Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle, Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa, and Joao Gomes of Wolves were chosen. On June 25, Brazil plays Costa Rica in the Copa America tournament. Dorival has hinted that Casemiro won’t receive a late call-up.
“We should all show respect for Casamiro. I told him what I expected of him three months ago. He is well aware of my opinions of him. When he announced his team, the Brazil manager said, “I will get in touch with him tomorrow and let him know what the future may hold.”
We still view him as a player at this level because he is a player who merits consideration. With Thiago Silva, with whom I spoke ten days ago, it’s the same. They should be respected because of their past with the Brazil squad.
“The reason we’re not calling those players up is simply that we think it’s best right now. Despite the fact that most of our players are young, they are competing at the top level.

Casemiro’s brutal brawl from Brazil occurs just a few days after Jamie Carragher urged the veteran to quit playing professional football following a terrible showing in United’s crushing defeat at Crystal Palace.
Carragher told Sky Sports, “As an experienced player, Casemiro should know tonight that he should only have three games left at the top level-the next two league games and the cup final-then go to the MLS or Saudi.”
“This needs to stop,” his agent and the group of people surrounding him need to tell him. I’m not kidding. One of the greatest of the modern era is what we are witnessing. He needs to move and call it a day.
“They ought to make a deal and pay him back. However, Crystal Palace shouldn’t subject that kind of player to this. He isn’t playing for Real Madrid or Manchester City out of respect for Crystal Palace. A man of that caliber ought not to endure what he is and ought to end his day.
