Borussia Dortmund’s loan of Jadon Sancho came to an end today, and the team is unsure if they will be able to sign him permanently from Manchester United.

Sebastian Kehl, the sporting director of Borussia Dortmund, says he “doesn’t know” if the team will be able to sign Jadon Sancho to a long-term contract.

The Manchester United misfit, who was shut out by Erik ten Hag, went back to his old team in January. His performance in his two years at Old Trafford had been erratic at best before then, but since returning to the Bundesliga, he has been a player transformed.

Sancho, who plays frequently for the German team, assisted Dortmund in their unexpected run to the Champions League final. There have been discussions about moving back permanently as a result, but Kehl is skeptical that they will be able to do so because of his contract with the Red Devils and the ambiguous terms of his loan agreement.

When asked about their position regarding Sancho, he responded to TNT Sports with, “I don’t know yet, to be honest, because it was great to have him for the last six months.” He raised the caliber of our team and expressed excitement for the championship. Everything else will be decided after he wins, which is what he wants.

He still has a contract with Manchester United, so the situation is fairly clear. Since there is no buy option, we must talk and negotiate. That might or might not work. Prior to raising the price, though, I really hope that he scores once or twice tonight.

Sancho’s arrival at United was by no means assured, as the team did not consistently see a return on the £70 million they paid to acquire him back in 2021.

Following Sancho’s social media outburst in the first few weeks of the season, the player and Ten Hag got into a fight. He wasn’t even permitted to practice with the first team after that, and the United manager later brought up problems involving the winger prior to his appointment.

The Dutchman appears to have softened his position on Sancho over time, and the player is now returning to Manchester after his loan expires, suggesting that a reunion may be possible.

Following Dortmund’s semifinal triumph, he declared, “Yesterday he showed why Manchester United bought him and why he represents a high value for Manchester United.” That’s excellent. Jadon’s performance yesterday made me happy. We’ll have to wait and see what happens later.
