Blackburn Rovers issue a warning over Tony Mowbray’s potential return, noting that “as much as he has the experience,” caution is needed.

Blackburn Rovers are looking for a new permanent manager after Michael O’Neill elected to remain with the Northern Ireland men’s national football team, and they have identified a familiar face as a possible contender.

As teams throughout the EFL prepare for the summer, many will be focused on the upcoming transfer window.

Blackburn are currently looking for a new permanent manager for next season after Northern Irish manager Michael O’Neill declined the permanent role at Ewood Park in order to focus on his country.

The Lancashire club had probably expected O’Neill to accept the deal, but his rejection has knocked them back a bit in their summer plans.

Their search for a new permanent manager continues, with previous manager Tony Mowbray’s chances of landing the vacant position in the Ewood Park dugout reduced.

Tony Mowbray is being mooted for a return to Blackburn Rovers amid the vacant managerial position.

Mowbray, 62, was Blackburn’s manager from 2017 to 2022, taking over immediately before the club was relegated to League One and leading them back to the Championship at the first attempt.

The Englishman has spent more games in command of Blackburn than any other club in his career, with 267 games managed for the Lancashire club, so it’s no wonder that he’s being tipped for a return, with bookies cutting his odds.

Simon, Football League World’s Blackburn fan analyst, has expressed his opinions on Mowbray’s probable return and if he would be the appropriate fit for the club moving ahead.

Simon answered, “Yeah, I mean, Tony Mowbray performed incredibly well for Blackburn when he came in. “He helped us get out of League One quickly and compete in the Championship.”I don’t think we had any relegation battles when he was in charge; he was constant in his actions. However,

many Blackburn fans may not expect the same outcome the second time around.I believe that with Blackburn right now, we should be looking ahead rather than backwards or in the past. We are quite lousy at doing that. “I doubt the second stint will be as successful as the first.”So, as much as he has the experience, I believe we should be looking forward rather than backwards and searching for someone new to come in.”

Blackburn encouraged to look ahead for the next management hire amid Tony Mowbray links.

With Blackburn seeking candidates for their vacant management job, FLW’s fan commentator has encouraged the club to look ahead and avoid employing Mowbray for a second time.

The veteran manager is an EFL expert, having coached West Bromwich Albion, Middlesbrough, Coventry City, Sunderland, Birmingham City, and Blackburn.

However, while his experience is definitely valuable, whether they should rely on it remains to be seen.

At this moment, it is unclear which path the Lancashire outfit will take; nevertheless, if they choose the experienced way and select someone like Mowbray, they must be certain that it is the right choice and that fans support it; otherwise, they may be in for another difficult year.
