Bobby Clark, a teenage midfielder, has disclosed that an encouraging season at Liverpool was cut short by injury.

Following a back injury, Clark, who established himself as a first-team squad regular and played in the League Cup final victory over Chelsea in February, will miss the remaining weeks of the season.

After making an impression during the preseason, the 19-year-old midfielder, who missed the first four months of the season due to injury, inked a new long-term contract in December.

After becoming fit again, Clark played in 12 senior games for the Reds, making his Premier League debut in the team’s victory over Nottingham Forest in March. He also made his debut in Europe at Sparta Prague before netting his first senior goal in the match’s rematch.

The teenager participated in Sunday’s 2-0 home Premier League 2 loss to Arsenal and has been making appearances for the under-21 team in recent weeks. However, he will now miss the first-team matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Wolves as well as the play-offs first round match at Kirkby on Sunday against Crystal Palace.

“Unfortunately, an injury has caused my season to end early,” Clark posted on social media on Wednesday. “Time to focus on getting back fit for the new season.”
