Manchester City will defeat Real Madrid in the final to reclaim their title as European champions, according to a Champions League supercomputer.
Last season, English clubs had a challenging season in Europe’s top tournament. No team advanced past the quarterfinals, as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich defeated Arsenal and Man City in the last eight, respectively.
The supercomputer at Grosvenor Sport, meanwhile, has picked retribution for City after predicting that they will defeat Madrid in the championship game to deprive Jude Bellingham and company consecutive victories.
Arsenal, however, will not get a second chance, as the supercomputer predicts that Mikel Arteta’s team will lose to rival Liverpool in the quarterfinals once more.
This season, City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Aston Villa will compete in a revamped tournament where clubs are placed in a league table format and must place in the top eight to advance to the knockout stages.
Teams ranked nineteen through twenty-four will compete in a two-leg play-off match. Arsenal and Liverpool, who finished tenth and eighteenth, respectively, are expected to face off for a berth in the final sixteen.
Real Madrid is predicted to lead the list, followed by Man City in fifth place and Aston Villa, who surprised everyone by placing seventh in the group. However, Unai Emery’s team’s happiness won’t last long, as they are predicted to lose to Red Bull Leipzig 5–4 on aggregate in the round of sixteen.
Arne Slot’s team will have to endure the anguish of a tight 4-3 aggregate loss to Madrid in the semi-finals, while Liverpool is expected to overcome Monaco in the play-offs, defeat Atalanta on penalties in the last-16, and defeat Arsenal 4-2 on aggregate in the quarterfinals.
Arsenal is expected to defeat Sparta Praha with ease in their play-off match, defeat Atletico Madrid with great style in the last-16, and ultimately lose to the Reds in the quarterfinals.
Man City is predicted to defeat Barcelona 5-2 on aggregate in the round of eight, after defeating PSG on penalties in the previous round.
They are then expected to defeat Leipzig, the unexpected team, 4-2 on aggregate in the semifinals before defeating Real Madrid 2-0 in the championship game to capture their second European trophy.
On September 17, the league phase matches begin. Aston Villa will travel to Young Boys in Switzerland, Liverpool will travel to face AC Milan, Man City will play Inter Milan at home, and Arsenal will play Atalanta away.
