Liverpool is allegedly considering a move for Willian Pacho, a defender for Eintracht Frankfurt, in an effort to surpass Arsenal during the summer transfer window. With just three games left, starting on Sunday when Tottenham visits Anfield, Jurgen Klopp’s time at the club is coming to an end, but the Reds are already looking ahead.

With Liverpool having already negotiated a compensation package with Arne Slot’s current club, Feyenoord, the Dutchman is expected to succeed Klopp. Given that Slot has openly stated his desire for the position, it is anticipated that personal terms will only be formalities.

Slot will assume the position of “head coach,” with an emphasis on team building and coaching. Though he won’t have as much influence as Klopp, he will work with the new sporting director Richard Hughes to identify transfer targets.

The 22-year-old defender Willian Pacho of Eintracht Frankfurt is being mentioned as a possible addition to the Liverpool team. Pacho only moved to Germany a year ago in a £7.7 million deal from Royal Antwerp, but his performances have drawn interest from a number of teams.

Pacho has reportedly attracted interest from both Liverpool and Arsenal, but Frankfurt is unwilling to let him go this summer, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg. Liverpool might, nevertheless, adopt a tactic that worked well for them in 2017.

Liverpool worried that Bayern Munich or Barcelona might make a move for Naby Keita, so they worked out an advance agreement with RB Leipzig. The next summer saw the arrival of the Guinean midfielder.

At the end of this season, Liverpool might sign Pacho and then loan him back to Frankfurt, according to SportBILD.

According to reports, Liverpool hopes Frankfurt would find this proposal appealing because they are worried that after one more season in the Bundesliga, his value will soar. Frankfurt would still want to pay about £51 million (€60 million) for the Ecuadorian international despite the terms of the agreement.

Liverpool’s wish list is probably going to be heavy with central defenders, as Joel Matip is expected to leave on a free transfer. Pacho might relocate, which would require another addition.

Lutsharel Geertruida of Feyenoord is keen to join Slot at Anfield, according to the Telegraaf.
