When asked if he would like to invite any former teammates from Chelsea to Arsenal, Kai Havertz said yes.
When asked which former teammates he would like to see join Arsenal, forward Kai Havertz declined to name any Chelsea players. Mikel Arteta has been playing well after a slow start, and Havertz has had a fantastic first season at the Emirates Stadium.
Havertz has contributed six assists and 12 league goals for the Gunners, keeping them in the running for their first Premier League crown in twenty years. Despite scoring the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final, he never quite lived up to the expectations placed on him at Stamford Bridge during his three years there previously.
Havertz stated he would not be making any changes to the current squad when asked if he would like to bring any of his former Chelsea teammates to Arsenal in an interview with the Chinese streaming service iQIYI.
“I don’t even know, I think we have everyone here,” he replied. “I’m happy with the squad.” When asked if Joao Felix, a former Blues loanee, would fit in well at the Emirates Stadium, Havertz said, “He’s an amazing player, a quality player for sure.” However, I must admit that I’m pleased with the team.”
Despite having a difficult time adjusting to life at Arsenal at first, Havertz seems to have found a new lease on life. With some significant goals and game-winning performances at the top of the pitch, he has solidified his position as a vital member of the team.
After Havertz scored a pivotal penalty in Arsenal’s crushing victory over Bournemouth the previous weekend, Arteta showered the player with praise, stating: “He was unbelievable today, honestly.” He displayed intelligence in everything he did, including timing, movements, ball handling, press coverage, play linking, and game understanding.
“He was amazing today. That’s what we were searching for, so if you’re going to spend the cash, you better spend it sensibly and efficiently. Our recent hires have greatly impacted the team, so we are extremely pleased with them.”
Havertz continued, telling TNT Sports that he was “so glad” to have left Chelsea for Arsenal last summer. “I have so many good players behind me and I really enjoy the No 9 role,” Havertz said. We are going to give it our all in the final two games. We’ll have fun with those games and see what happens.
“Every moment is enjoyable to me. I learned so much from him [Arteta], especially in the beginning when things were difficult for me. I’m very happy I came. Even though things were difficult at first, everyone supported me. I put in a lot of work, but joining a new team is difficult for me.”
