After deleting all of his social media posts from his time at Liverpool, Darwin Nunez has ignited shocking rumors about his future there. The striker started Sunday’s 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur for the Reds on the bench before replacing Luis Diaz in the 75th minute with a 4-1 advantage.

Nunez has made 18 goals and 13 assists for Liverpool this season, but he has been in and out of the team due to Jurgen Klopp’s quality of attacking options. The Uruguayan international has scored 33 goals in total since leaving Benfica in 2022, but he has frequently come under fire for his lack of composure in front of goal.

Nunez has since deleted all of his Instagram posts related to Liverpool, which has raised questions about his future in the Premier League after the team’s victory over Spurs. A cursory look at his profile reveals that the only things left are photos of him playing for Benfica and Uruguay.

The striker removed his posts about Liverpool, though it’s unclear why at the moment. However, it did so after Barcelona was rumored to be considering a surprise move for him. With Klopp’s departure expected to bring about changes at Anfield, Nunez’s possible departure may cause Arsenal and Chelsea to rush their own transfer plans.

In an effort to strengthen their offensive lines, Mauricio Pochettino and Mikel Arteta will probably be looking to add a striker to their teams for the upcoming campaign. If Nunez is sold by Liverpool, though, they too will be shopping for a new number nine come summertime.

Given Mohamed Salah’s uncertain future, Liverpool may be in dire need of additional offensive reinforcements. Regretfully, Arsenal and Chelsea may encounter undesired competition in their pursuit of one of their objectives.

In the last six months, moves to both teams have been associated with the names of Ivan Toney, Victor Gyokeres, and Victor Osimhen. Clubs must negotiate the best deal possible due to FFP concerns, so interest from other sources isn’t ideal.
