The Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes is still a target for Arsenal, but there is little chance that a deal will materialize. This summer is predicted to be busy for the Gunners as many decisions pertaining to both incomings and outgoings must be made.
Similar to Guimaraes, Arsenal is also interested in Alexander Isak, a player from the North East, but neither player is likely to be sold by the Magpies. It’s also unlikely that Isak will go given his outrageous asking price, but Guimaraes raises some questions.
The Brazil international’s contract has a £100 million release clause that can be activated until late June. The clause’s specifics were just made public. The financial fair play situation for Newcastle is already concerning, as Eddie Howe’s team faced a worst-case scenario this past weekend.
Even though they finished eighth, Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United team earned a spot in the Europa League for the following season after defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup. As a result, Chelsea was demoted to the Europa Conference League, and Newcastle was left out completely.

Martin Zubimendi is still a more tangible option. Although Guimaraes has made it clear he is content at Newcastle, the clause makes a departure unlikely.
Another midfield player with an active release clause this summer is the Real Sociedad star, who Arsenal has long-term interest in signing. The reported fee is around €60 million (£51 million), though other clubs interested in signing the Spain international include Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
