Arne Slot breaks silence on Michael Oliver incident and reveals what REALLY caused red card in Merseyside derby

The reason that Michael Oliver showed Arne Slot a red card after the Merseyside derby match ended in a 2-2 draw between Everton and Liverpool has finally been revealed by Slot.

The referee Oliver sent Slot and his assistant Sipke Hulshoff off the field after Slot, who is 46 years old, lost his composure after the 2-2 draw that Everton played at Goodison Park on Wednesday evening. Slot was also asked to leave the field.

Beto, who is 27 years old, took advantage of Jarrad Branthwaite’s deft free kick and executed it past Alisson, which resulted in Liverpool falling behind 11 minutes into the match.

A mere five minutes later, Alexis Mac Allister scored the equalizer for the team that was playing away from home. On the 73rd minute, Mohamed Salah scored a goal that put the Reds ahead by a score of 2-1. However, the points were tied after James Tarkowski scored a stunning volley goal on the 98th day of the match.

A fight broke out between Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucoure after the Everton player appeared to taunt the away fans, much to Jones’s dismay. Jones, who is 24 years old, then became involved in the altercation.

Almost immediately after that, Slot approached Oliver and the other officials, and after a heated exchange, he was promptly shown a red card.

The manager of Liverpool did not show up for the press conference that was held after the match on Wednesday, but he did speak to the media at approximately nine o’clock on Friday morning.

In the beginning, one of the questions that was asked was about the incident that resulted in his termination.

I am unable to provide any further information because there is a process that is still in progress, and we are required to respect that.

What transpired was that the extra time was added five times, and it ended up being eight. The feelings got the better of me than I could have anticipated. On the other hand, if I had the ability to do that differently, I would like to do it differently the next time as well.

Then, he went on to explain that there is a process that is currently taking place, and he does not wish to disrupt it.

After the referee blew his whistle, it seemed as though we had lost two points; however, throughout the entire 90 minutes, I did not have the impression that we were going to win consistently; rather, I felt that the draw was the appropriate outcome,” he continued. It felt like we had lost two points, but we were still ahead after 97 minutes of play.

“However, I had the impression that we won quite a bit as well. cohesion of the team and the fans, as well as the way in which everyone was united. To be mentally so strong, to stay so strong together and fight so hard, to be mentally so strong, that gives me a lot of confidence for the upcoming 14 games. The team was mentally so strong in a game that was played in difficult circumstances for them, and it was even better than the previous year.

The fact that they were able to maintain their unity for 98 minutes demonstrates to me that we are a very challenging team to defeat.

Additionally, Slot shared his thoughts on the incident that resulted in Jones being dismissed from the game, resulting in the England international being suspended for one match.

“Many things in extra time happened which led to me being quite emotional,” Slot stated in an interview. I was under the impression that it was a foul, but then I realized that it could have been offside. There was a VAR incident that lasted for two minutes. There were a lot of things that took place, and it would not be fair to go into every single incident.

“The fact that he (Curtis) is willing to advocate for the team is something that I really admire, but I believe that there are other ways for the team and the fans to do that. In regard to that, I will discuss it with him. Likewise, I should have behaved differently after the game as well; I should have altered my behavior. However, it is also a sport that is characterized by its emotional nature, and it is not uncommon for individuals to make a mistaken choice due to their feelings, which is exactly what I did.

On Sunday afternoon, Liverpool will host Wolves in a Premier League match at Anfield. Wolves will be the opponent.
