Ange Postecoglou praises Son Heung-min for beating tiredness to net winner

Ange Postecoglou praised the remarkable performance of the fatigued Tottenham captain, Son Heung-min, after his decisive goal secured a 2-1 victory against Luton at home.

Tottenham Hotspur managed to revive their chances of qualifying for the Champions League after securing a comeback win against Luton, who had took the lead in the third minute thanks to Tahith Chong.

In the first half, Tottenham’s captain Son struck both posts with his shots. However, in the second half, Brennan Johnson, who was brought in at half-time, created the equalizer when his dangerous cross was forcefully deflected into the net by Hatters defender Issa Kabore.

Johnson once again assisted in the 86th minute, receiving a pass from Timo Werner and setting up Son, who scored with a deflection off Daiki Hashioka. This goal secured three crucial points for the home team.

Son scored his 15th goal of the season, surpassing Cliff Jones to claim the fifth spot on Tottenham’s all-time scoring list with a total of 160 goals. This achievement comes just after he traveled a significant distance to participate in South Korea’s World Cup qualifiers against Thailand.

Postecoglou stated, “I am confident that he is experiencing fatigue.” Yes, certainly. It is challenging. During my tenure as the national team coach of Australia, we had a considerable number of players competing in this region.

“The trips are lengthy and involve time differences, but as I mentioned earlier, Sonny never seeks out those supports,”

“When he is free, he strives to perform at the utmost level and consistently maintains this commitment.”

Representing his national team holds immense significance for him. Being a part of this football team holds immense significance for him, and he would not jeopardize it by allowing his performance to decline.
