Manchester United is poised to acquire Cerro Porteno left-back Diego Leon, contingent upon his medical examination next week, with the 17-year-old expected to join the Red Devils in the summer, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The Old Trafford club has reached an agreement with the adolescent prodigy and his current club, with formal finalization expected by the end of next week, pending the completion of requisite tests.

Manchester United might benefit from Leon’s talents at this moment, as head coach Ruben Amorim is eager to enhance his left-back alternatives.

Luke Shaw continues to experience fitness difficulties, while Tyrell Malacia has not yet reached optimal performance following his recent return from a prolonged injury absence.

Manchester United aims to bolster their squad this month by pursuing the acquisition of Paris Saint-Germain left wing-back Nuno Mendes.

Harry Amass, the left-back for the Red Devils, is anticipated to depart, as Leicester City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy seeks a reunion.

The 17-year-old has been included in the Manchester United matchday squad five times in the 2024-25 season but has not yet made his official first-team debut, despite being a prominent performer throughout pre-season.

Given Leon’s impending arrival at the season’s conclusion, a transfer, whether temporary or permanent, for Amass may be the most advantageous course of action, as the Paraguayan is set to integrate into the senior team.

The South American sensation has played 19 times in the Paraguayan top-flight, with two goals to his name, and he will be eager to hit the ground running at Man United once he arrives ahead of next season.

The Red Devils will implement extensive roster modifications this summer, as the existing players are insufficient for advancing to the next level, and minor revisions may occur this month due to their disappointing performance thus far.
