Alexander Isak has consistently been linked with a move to Liverpool.
A significant update on the current transfer controversy involving Alexander Isak has been released ahead of Newcastle United’s match against Leeds United.
Over the previous few weeks, Isak, 25, has been linked with a move away from St James’ Park.
Throughout the summer, the Magpies have consistently stated that the Swedish international is not for sale.
However, in order to proceed with the move, Isak took to social media to issue a statement claiming that ‘promises’ had been broken.
Liverpool’s approach was rejected earlier this summer, but they could potentially return with an improved offer.
This is because Newcastle recently signed Nick Woltemade from German Bundesliga side Stuttgart, which might clear the way for Isak’s departure.
A major update on the transfer controversy was supplied ahead of Newcastle’s Premier League match against Leeds United on Saturday evening.
Journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft said on social media that Isak’s transfer to Liverpool is complete and will take place soon.
He wrote on X, “Re: Alexander Isak.” Understand, Isak – the trade has been completed, and Newcastle will play at Leeds tonight, so nothing else is expected till then, I am told.
“Fee will be £130 million. “Isak to Liverpool is likely to happen very soon.”

What did Eddie Howe say about the Alexander Isak transfer saga?
When asked this week if the saga is beyond his control, Magpies manager Eddie Howe responded: “That is where I have been for a long time with the Alex situation because it would be detrimental for me to invest any more time with that situation when I have 25/30 players who require every ounce of energy and time.
“And the team needs me to focus on trying to get results, that is what I have tried to do.”
Howe continued: “Other people are dealing with that scenario for me; it has been: ‘Let me focus on the guys who are playing and can impact other results’.
“For me, as soon as the season and the action begin, you are in a completely other place. It is difficult enough to do so with all of the other distractions we have encountered this summer, but I believe the guys have handled it admirably.
