Three Championship clubs had expressed interest in Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, but the player has now left England for a second spell in Turkey.

The English transfer window closed at 11 p.m. on September 1st, but one window of opportunity remained open for English clubs looking to do some more business after that date.

On September 4th, Premier League team Crystal Palace transferred talented youth winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi to Super Lig club Kasımpaşa SK, capitalising on the Turkish clubs’ hectic summer transfer window.

The loan arrangement covers the entire 2026-27 season, which may disappoint three Championship clubs.

Rak-Sakyi had been connected with Charlton Athletic, Burnley, and Wrexham over the summer, and while none of them were able to complete a deal by September 1st, they may have been hoping to sign him in January. However, the player’s dreams were dashed when his club confirmed his transfer to Kasımpaşa for the entire season.

A message on the social media platform X at the end of the Turkish transfer window from the official Crystal Palace account revealed that Jesurun Rak-Sakyi will be loaned out to Turkey for the season.

This is not the first time the teenage winger has travelled to Turkey. In September 2025, he joined with Çaykur Rizespor until the January window, when he returned to England and agreed a deal to join Stoke City for the second half of the season.

Rak-Sakyi’s time at The Bet365 Stadium was rather successful. He made 15 appearances for Stoke in the second part of 2026-27, but had little impact, scoring only three league goals.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi unable to reach the heights of his 2022-23 Charlton season.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, born in London to Ghanaian parents, was capped by England at the under-20 and under-21 levels before switching allegiances to Ghana. The young winger had already played Premier League football for Crystal Palace when he left Selhurst Park for Charlton on a season-long loan in August 2022.

Rak-Sakyi excelled in The Valley that season. He scored 15 goals and assisted eight times that season, collecting the Supporters Player of the Year award with a stunning 46% of the votes.

Rak-Sakyi has since fallen short of such heights. After spending 2023-24 at Selhurst Park, making six Premier League appearances for Crystal Palace, he went on loan to Sheffield United in 2024-25, making 34 League appearances for the Blades as they narrowly missed out on promotion back to the top flight after losing the play-off final to Sunderland.

Last season, he travelled to Turkey and then the Potteries. There has been interest in him from numerous Championship clubs over the course of the summer despite his small tail-off since 2022-23, and it does remain the case that he might be recalled by Palace at the conclusion of the year and sent out to a Championship club.

Charlton, whose fans built a strong bond with him during the 2022-23 season, had been considered the favourites to obtain him throughout the summer, and would definitely want to take him again. But for now, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi will be trying his luck against in Turkey and any interested clubs will have to wait until January 2027 at the absolute earliest.
