A fresh West Ham and Stoke City transfer update has emerged, with the truth behind the Hammers’ position revealed as a deal worth more than £10 million continues to be pursued.

West Ham United supporters have yet to see any new faces arrive at the London Stadium, and while whispers of a transfer for a Championship winger have grown in recent days, the truth may not be pleasant for Hammers fans.

West Ham United has signed Venezuelan winger Keiber Lamadrid after a loan spell in the second half of last season, but that’s all the incomings in East London thus far.

The £85 million sale of Mateus Fernandes and the £60 million sale of Crysencio Summerville provide the club and new head of player recruiting Nils Koppen with a plethora of options, but the Hammers have yet to see success.

Links to Stoke City winger Sorba Thomas have resurfaced in recent days, with the West Ham Way Patreon earlier reporting over two weeks ago on the club’s interest in the Welshman, and Alan Nixon has now verified via his Patreon that the former Huddersfield Town player is desired by the club.

However, a recent update on the situation has just been released, and West Ham fans may regret discovering the truth.

West Ham reveal the truth about Sorba Thomas’ pursuit

Thomas, 27, joined Stoke last summer for a cost estimated to be less than £2 million from League One Huddersfield Town, signing a three-year contract after an unimpressive loan spell in the French top division with Nantes.

Fast forward a year, and Thomas has just had the most productive season of his career, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists in 45 Championship appearances for a struggling Stoke assault.

West Ham’s interest was unsurprising, but as the Stoke Sentinel’s Pete Smith has revealed, the Hammers have yet to contact the Potters about a transfer for Thomas.

This is not to suggest that there isn’t interest in the winger, but Koppen and his recruitment team have yet to contact the North Staffordshire club about a transfer worth more than £10 million.

Following the most recent update, this saga is definitely one to keep an eye on in the future.

West Ham fans will be upset with the latest Sorba Thomas update.

After been connected to a number of players this summer, including Thomas, this latest information will not be welcomed by Hammers fans.

Whether Thomas was a player they would have liked to see at West Ham or not, the news of the lack of contact will undoubtedly enrage club supporters, who may believe their team is letting the window slip away from them.

With Summerville leaving for Saudi Arabia, Nuno will need to find and bring in another option on the left flank, and Thomas would more than fill that position.

However, a move does not appear to be imminent, since dissatisfaction is likely to be the overwhelming emotion among the Hammers fanbase right now.

How did West Ham supporters react to the initial interest in Sorba Thomas?

Following the announcement of their interest in Thomas, West Ham fans rushed to social media to react to his prospective signing, with some supporters pleased with the revelation of their lack of contact with Stoke and others dissatisfied.
