The Brazilian goalkeeper was culpable of colliding with Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez a mere three minutes into the second half, hastily advancing in an attempt to intercept an inadequately executed back-pass from City defender Nathan Ake. He made a powerful connection with the former Benfica player, leading to Liverpool being awarded a penalty.
Alexis Mac Allister equalized for Liverpool, nullifying John Stones’ first half goal. That occurred subsequent to Ederson receiving medical attention from the City medical personnel.
He managed to endure the punishment but subsequently fell down again within a short span of time, evidently experiencing distress due to the collision with Nunez. Ultimately, he was compelled to step down and was substituted by Stefan Ortega.
Ederson was attended to by two club medical personnel, a member of St John’s Ambulance, and Kyle Walker, all of whom were assessing his status. Ederson has been present in the starting lineup for all but one of Manchester City’s 28 Premier League matches this season. The sole exception was when City emerged victorious with a 2-1 score against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Etihad Stadium in October.
