The appointment of John Murtough as Birmingham City’s new director of football has been praised as a victory for the Championship team.
Birmingham is now in the play-off spots after Chris Davies made some changes to the team’s style of play. The Blues have had a good start to the season.

Since the US owners of St. Andrew’s are very ambitious and see the Premier League as just the beginning of what they believe will be a successful journey for the club, it is, as far as we know, the minimum expectation for the team.
John Murtough is expected to succeed at Birmingham City.
While on-field events are the primary emphasis, Birmingham had to make an important off-field decision this summer when they searched for Craig Gardner’s replacement after the former player resigned from his position as director of football.
Many names were associated with the position because to Blues’ riches, and after a protracted process, it was declared that Murtough had been selected.
Having worked at the Premier League, Coventry, Everton, Fulham, and, most recently, Atalanta, he comes to the game with a solid reputation. In addition, Murtough worked for Manchester United for 11 years in a variety of capacities, eventually rising to the position of football director.
He has a lot of experience, and FLW’s Birmingham fan analyst Jason Moore said he is happy with the choice when asked if he believes Murtough will make the appropriate hiring decisions for the Blues.
You must have faith in him. You have to believe him because of his great resume.
If you disregard the Wayne Rooney issues, the board hasn’t made many mistakes, and Murtough’s resume is outstanding. Man Utd was his only setback, but who now does well there? No one.
Ignoring that, the appointment is outstanding, particularly for a Championship team. I am aware of our aspirations, but it is quite astounding to be able to attract someone with that kind of background.
“I don’t think we’ll be able to waste £80 million on a guy like Antony, so you have to get past the Man Utd things because they’re a shambles. Touch wood, he can come and do a good job for us and buy better than what he did at Man Utd! I support and have faith in him.

However, there is still a lot of football to be played, and Davies will be hoping that players like Luis Vasquez and Marvin Ducksch can begin to seize the opportunities that present themselves.
John Murtough will look to Birmingham City for long-term success.
Murtough’s challenge will go beyond the January transfer window, and his decision to sign with the Blues indicates that he believes he can develop a long-term project there.
He has undoubtedly taken on a big role, and in order for the club to succeed in the upcoming years, he will need to collaborate closely with Davies and other important players.
Most people would concur that Murtough’s resume is quite remarkable for a Championship team, and his global network will be invaluable in his new position.
On paper, this seems like a wise move for Birmingham, but only time will tell. Murtough hopes to contribute to the Blues’ ascent in English football and move into a new stadium.
