Birmingham City striker Marvin Ducksch has seen his minutes cut this season under Chris Davies, and the German forward is looking for greener pastures this winter.
Birmingham City have their sights set on finishing in the Championship top eight this season, and when the January window opens in a few months, head coach Steve Davies will have little intention of weakening his squad.
However, one or two exits are predicted and must be handled correctly, as one player has already announced their intention to leave in January.
Marvin Ducksch is targeting a January exit from Birmingham City.

According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg via X, Marvin Ducksch has set his sights on the St Andrews exit door ahead of January after falling down the pecking order this season.
Ducksch, 32, joined Birmingham in the summer of 2025 when the club returned to the Championship from Werder Bremen in a move of approximately £1.75 million.
Although he scored ten goals and assisted twice in 33 league games in his first season with the Blues, his time in England’s Second City was largely overshadowed by an off-field incident in which he was heavily fined and banned from driving for 14 months after causing a three-way vehicle collision near the club’s training ground in April.
Ducksch is under contract until the summer of 2028 and would want to return to Germany if he were to leave this winter, after a summer move to Valencia fell through, according to Plettenburg.
However, Plettenburg claims that, while the 32-year-old is interested in leaving, no offers are currently on the table, as only time will tell how this tale unfolds.
Marvin Ducksch has seen his minutes reduced at Birmingham City so far this season.

Despite Lyndon Dykes leaving for Charlton Athletic in January 2026, Birmingham signed Danish striker August Priske from Swedish club Djurgarden the same month, while Ducksch failed to find a place in the team.
Luis Vazquez came from Anderlecht in the most recent transfer window to provide more competition up front, and as a result, Ducksch’s minutes have been reduced this season, with only 95 minutes in the Championship across seven substitute appearances after 12 games.
Unsurprisingly, the 32-year-old has grown dissatisfied with his lack of opportunities at Chelsea and is now considering a return to Germany, though a move abroad is not out of the question.
Chris Davies must be cautious when sanctioning Marvin Ducksch’s mid-season departure.

Ducksch has one eye on the exit door at St Andrews, therefore head coach Davies must exercise caution in allowing the German to depart without serious consideration.
Though the Blues are now performing admirably without him, the 32-year-old is still more than capable of playing a major role in the Championship, and while his off-field antics haven’t helped his cause, his departure must be thoroughly investigated before being sanctioned.
Birmingham cannot afford to lose ground in January, especially if a play-off spot appears to be a real possibility, and a replacement must be found before Ducksch departs.
