Pundit Issues Fresh Warning Over Nathan Jones’ Future at Charlton Athletic.

Pundit Aaron McLean has warned Nathan Jones that he is in risk of losing his job at Charlton Athletic as the club’s poor form continues.

Jones has been in charge of Charlton since February 2024, leading them to promotion from League One via the play-offs in the 2024-25 season and keeping them in the Championship this season, but he has faced criticism from fans in recent weeks.

Nathan Jones under increased pressure at Charlton Athletic following Norwich City’s defeat.

Charlton had a fantastic start to the season, winning their first three league games against Derby County, West Ham United, and Preston North End, but they were unable to continue their early momentum.

The Addicks have not won a game since defeating Preston at the end of August, and their winless streak now stands at nine games following a 3-1 loss to fellow strugglers Norwich City at The Valley on Saturday.

Charlton took the lead in the 10th minute through Charlie Kelman, but Norwich, who had lost their previous six matches in all competitions, rallied, with goals from Paris Maghoma and Mathias Kvistgaarden, before Ivan Mesik’s own goal sealed all three points for the Canaries.

The Addicks are currently 19th in the Championship, six points clear of the relegation zone, as they continue to fall down the table, and things will not get any easier for Jones’ men when they play league leaders Middlesbrough at Riverside Stadium on Saturday.

Aaron McLean issues a clear warning to Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones.

On the latest Inside The 72 podcast, Adam Virgo expressed concern over Charlton’s recent defensive troubles.”Nathan will discuss the budget and league position, but he established a reputation for keeping clean sheets and being difficult to beat. However, they are currently conceding frequently,” Virgo stated.Nathan’s teams have been known for their defensive strength and strong work ethic, despite not being prolific goal scorers. However, at home, they have been turned around.”

McLean, Virgo’s co-host, warned Jones that his position at The Valley is under threat and that the Welshman’s style of play may lose him his job.McLean stated that they were turned over by a team that had previously lost six consecutive games.I previously stated that Charlton,

despite a strong start to the season, may face relegation. They are now 19th in the table and have had a poor run of games, including a recent defeat.”I believe Nathan Jones is in trouble.I’m not sure how they’ll turn things around by January.”They were overachieving,

with Tyreece Campbell’s early season goals masking some flaws.”McLean believes the team’s playing style will be their downfall. The team’s strategy of absorbing pressure and counterattacking is risky, as demonstrated in the Championship. The top part of the pitch is usually the best, so if you play that style, you’ll almost certainly concede goals.”

Nathan Jones will have great Charlton Athletic fear as the Middlesbrough match near.

Jones will still have some credit with Charlton supporters, given that he transformed a team that appeared to be going for League Two when he arrived, but patience is wearing thin.

The game against Norwich seemed like one that the Addicks couldn’t afford to lose, but after being brutally thrashed by the Canaries, there is no doubt that Jones is in genuine danger of losing his job for the first time since taking over at The Valley.

Charlton defeated Middlesbrough 1-0 in their last visit to the Riverside Stadium in March, but Kim Hellberg’s team is an entirely different proposition this season, and Jones will be concerned that failure on Teesside this weekend will be the end of his stay.
