EFL Manager Sacked Just 10 Games into the Season Despite Securing Two Promotions in Three Years.

Bromley have terminated Andy Woodman after just winning two games in all competitions this season.

Woodman, who had been in command since March 2021, guided the club to League One for the first time in its history last season.

That was their second promotion in three years, following a stunning rise from non-league status under manager Woodman.

However, since reaching League One, they’ve encountered a stumbling block, with everything looking to be too difficult.

Woodman was fired following a four-game losing skid in the league, with the club placed 23rd after ten games.

The Ravens have won only two of their first seven games, losing six in a row in all competitions since defeating Huddersfield on September 19.

They have lost their last four league games, as well as the Jersey Mike’s Trophy, to Brentford U21s and Crawley Town, respectively.

Woodman’s final game in command saw his side lose 4-0 at home to Russell Martin’s Leicester City on Tuesday night.

During his five-and-a-half years as Bromley manager, Woodman managed 274 games, winning 117 and losing 76.

He was the third-longest serving manager in the English Football League and Premier League combined.

Bromley dismisses Andy Woodman.

On Thursday morning, Bromley released a statement confirming the departure of their longtime manager.

Owner and Chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves stated, “I would first like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Andy for everything he has accomplished during his tenure with us.

“It’s no surprise that this club has reached new heights and Andy has been fundamental in helping us achieve that.”I’d like to reassure our supporters that we will approach this new chapter with the same desire and determination to propel this football club ahead.

“On a personal note, Andy has been a pleasure to work with, and I wish him all the best for the future.”

Byron Webster, a former player, will take over as interim manager until a permanent replacement can be found.

Woodman, the father of Liverpool goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, previously worked as a goalkeeper coach and Head of Goalkeeping at Arsenal before being appointed Bromley manager in 2021.

Prior to taking over at the Ravens, he had only managed semi-pro side Whitehawk.

Woodman’s dismissal comes after he expressed his determination to maintain Bromley in League One despite a terrible start.

He blasted his squad for ‘gifting’ opponents goals after losing to Leicester on Tuesday evening.Woodman told BBC Radio London, “We’re making rash decisions with no pressure on us.”This is a source of frustration for me as it contradicts our foundation. We’re working hard to find the answers, putting in long hours. Maybe we lack quality and confidence, but we need to find a solution immediately.

“I certainly won’t lie down and accept what I’m seeing.”

Unfortunately for Woodman, he has not been granted further time to turn things around.
