£1.2m Norwich City Update as Philippe Clement Avoids the Sack at Carrow Road.

Norwich City are in free fall, and if Philippe Clement is unable to find a solution to this dreadful run of form, the writing may be on the wall for the Belgian, who must rely on one player in particular to pull him out of danger.

After 11 Championship games, Norwich is just above the relegation zone with three wins and eight defeats, with only Preston North End conceding more than their 21 goals and losing more games at this point.

Clement, who saved the Canaries from their poor run of form following Liam Manning’s dismissal nearly a year ago, now risks a similar destiny to his predecessor, as the former Monaco and Rangers manager must find a way to turn the tide at Carrow Road sooner rather than later.

Norwich City is in awful form

Norwich have lost their last six games in all competitions, dropping down the Championship standings.

The Norfolk-based firm has simply not been to the races yet, and if this trend continues for much longer, Clement may lose his job just a year after saving them from a similarly dire scenario.

Hitting the back of the net has not been an issue for the Canaries this season until the final four games, when one significant absence caused their numbers in front of goal to plummet.

Mohamed Toure’s injury has posed clear concerns for Philippe Clement of Norwich City.

Mohamed Toure, an Australian striker, joined Norwich in January 2026 to replace Josh Sargent, who left Danish club Randers for East Anglia for an initial fee of £2.6 million.

That rapidly appeared to be a bargain, as the 22-year-old scored nine goals and assisted three in just 11 Championship games during the second part of the 2025/26 season, including two hat-tricks.

Toure’s form carried over into this season, as he struck five in his first seven games. However, Norwich’s injury difficulties from last season have spilt over into this season, with the Australian suffering a shoulder injury in their 4-3 home defeat to Bolton Wanderers before the international break.

Clement revealed that Toure would ‘be out for months’, leaving a large gap up top at Carrow Road where one obvious contender may step in and save the Belgian’s job.

Philippe Clement must rely on Jovon Makama to rescue his Norwich City job.

In Toure’s absence, Mathias Kvistgaarden and Jovon Makama are the two other players that may fill his shoes, and Clement should put his trust in the latter to save his job.

Makama, 22, joined Norwich from Lincoln City in the summer of 2025 for roughly £1.2 million. He scored ten goals and assisted once in 28 Championship appearances last season, with only injuries preventing him from appearing more frequently in the second part of the season.

Makama, who had previously only played in League One, adapted quickly to the Championship and demonstrated his ability to lead an attack at this level.

While Kvistgaarden will fight for a spot at the top, Clement should believe in the Englishman, who has the ability to catch fire and rescue his job with a string of consistent games.

Jovon Makama could safeguard Philippe Clement’s Norwich City position in the next matchups.

Clement suddenly finds himself in a race against time to turn the tide in East Anglia.

With Charlton Athletic, Watford, and Derby County coming up, it’s now or never for the Belgian, who needs to put Makama in the spotlight in a last-ditch effort to save his Norwich job.

These next few games will be critical for his future at Carrow Road, and he requires a hero, who could well be Makama.
