Chris Davies Addresses Liam Millar Transfer Speculation and Explains the ‘Good Combination’ as Liam Millar Makes His Final Decision

Liam Millar has scored seven goals since joining Birmingham City on loan from Hull City.

Chris Davies believes Liam Millar ‘is made for this place’ following the winger’s latest stellar turn for Birmingham City.

Millar scored twice in the Blues’ 3-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, with his replacement Demarai Grey scoring the other, to extend his impressive start at St Andrews.

The Canadian has scored in three consecutive home games and has made seven goal contributions (four goals and three assists) in seven outings for his loan team.

“He’s doing great,” Blues manager Davies remarked. “I’ve mentioned before that I’ve attempted to persuade him every year I’ve been here, and we finally succeeded. He’s been great. He has enthusiasm and intelligence, but he also has quality. When given the opportunity, if you can be clinical, you’re an excellent winger.”

Millar’s contract with Hull City expires at the end of the season, however the Tigers are understood to have a 12-month option, and the Blues will undoubtedly want to sign him permanently if his current form continues.

When asked if he is considering loaning out a player, Davies responded, “Yeah…it’s hard to predict when you get them on loan, will they fit, will they settle in, and he’s made for this place.”

“We love having him here and he loves being here, and that’s a good combination.”

Blues’ third consecutive victory after the international break has propelled them into the promotion contention. Blues are fourth with 20 points after their first 11 games and are riding a wave of energy.

“I think there’s a confidence there,” Davies said. “As I explained to the guys before the game, it’s all about competitive hunger. It is about the drive for ongoing progress and growth, rather than getting caught up in the league or the opposition. It’s about getting better.

“What we did over the international break, we looked at it and said, ‘We can improve, we can go up a few levels here,’ and we have done so in these games.

“We are where we are because we deserve to be, that is all I will say. We haven’t snuck in there, and we should have more points than we do.

“Anyone who has followed us closely this season would probably agree with that. We have what we have because we deserve it, but in order to stay there, we must prove that we deserve to be there, which will be accomplished by our performances.”
