Derby County’s Championship season has been a nightmare so far.

Derby would have hoped to mount another promotion drive this season after missing out on the play-offs on the final day of the previous season, but that has not been the case so far.

Pressure is mounting on John Eustace at Derby County as his bad start continues.

Derby had a busy summer, with 11 new players arriving at Pride Park, including Eiran Cashin, Alex Mowatt, Ryan Hedges, Filip Bilbija, Henrik Meister, and Mohammed Fuseini, while David Ozoh, Bobby Clark, and Sammie Szmodics all returned after successful loan spells last season.

The Rams were supposed to be among the Championship’s play-off hopefuls this season, but after a dismal start, they are now in the relegation zone.

Eustace has done a wonderful job at Derby, taking them from relegation threats to play-off contenders, but his side’s poor start this season may raise concerns at Pride Park.

The Rams have lacked an attacking threat in the early stages of the season, scoring only six goals in their first seven games and conceding 13, which is particularly uncommon given that Eustace’s teams are usually based on a strong defensive foundation.

There is no doubt that Eustace is a more than capable Championship manager, but there is little prospect of Derby’s fortunes improving, and with the three-week international break approaching, now could be the ideal time for owner David Clowes to make a managerial move.

With that in mind, Saturday’s game against fellow strugglers Burnley might decide Eustace’s future, and both managers will be under pressure at Turf Moor, with Hayen also looking to preserve his job after failing to win any of the Clarets’ nine games in charge thus far.
