Football Insider has learned that Bolton Wanderers have agreed to sign Liverpool youngster Luca Stephenson.
The 22-year-old midfielder is scheduled to have a medical at the Trotters on Wednesday before completing a permanent transfer.
Football Insider earlier reported that Bolton were in advanced talks to sign Stephenson.
Last season, the midfielder had a stellar season with Dundee United, appearing in 29 Scottish Premiership games.
Clubs such as Rangers and Celtic were connected to the Liverpool player earlier this year.
However, Bolton are now ready to complete the deal ahead of their return to the Championship in 2026-27.
Who is Luca Stephenson?
Stephenson began his career in Sunderland’s youth before leaving for Liverpool in 2018.

After signing his first professional deal in 2020, he usually captained their Under-18 and Under-21 teams.
He was loaned to Barrow for the 2023-24 season and rapidly established himself as a regular.
Deployed as a right-wing back, he helped the club finish eighth in League Two, missing out on the playoffs by one point.
Following his triumph, he joined Dundee United on loan for the 2024-25 season, when he helped the club finish fourth in the Scottish Premiership and qualify for Europe.
Stephenson was named both the fans’ and clubs’ Young Player of the Season for his performances, and his loan deal has been extended until 2025-26.
After another excellent season with the Tangerines, he was pursued by a number of clubs, with Bolton seemingly poised to win the race for his signature.

How good is Stephenson?
According to Fotmob on June 30, Stephenson had a fantastic 2025-26 season in the Scottish Premiership.
In the Scottish Premiership, he averaged 0.18 goals (0.08 xG), 0.77 shots, 0.18 assists (0.13 xA), 1.02 opportunities created, and 5.52 defensive contributions per 90 minutes.
If these statistics can be duplicated, he will undoubtedly be a huge addition to Bolton next season.
Given his age, he has the potential to become a top star, which has surely pushed the Wanderers to complete the signing in recent weeks.
