Norwich City are hoping to build on the success they’ve had since Philippe Clement arrived at Carrow Road, and they’ll be seeking for a successful summer window to assist them return to the Championship’s top six.
In 2025-26, the Canaries had a season divided into two half.
Liam Manning’s reign was about as terrible as it could have been, with the former Bristol City manager winning only three of his 17 games before being fired in early November.
Norwich found themselves in an unfamiliar relegation battle and hired former Rangers manager Philippe Clement to assist lead them clear of trouble.
Not only did he do that, but the Canaries appeared to be on track for the play-offs at one point, thanks to an incredible turnaround under the Belgian, which included a strong January transfer window, with Ali Ahmed, Mohamed Toure, and Sam Field all joining the club and playing key roles in its success.
Manchester United youth Harry Amass was signed alongside them to provide further strength and depth at left-back, but his injury forced Clement to fill a gap for much of the remainder of the season.
Now it appears that Norwich is taking steps to solve that issue.
Norwich City are looking to sign Hull City’s Ryan Giles this summer.

Ben Chrisene is recognised as Norwich’s sole natural senior left-back option, with Kellen Fisher, Jack Stacey, and Jose Cordoba filling in for him.
The signing of Amass in January was supposed to alleviate some of the strain on that position, but the 19-year-old’s subsequent history meant that the Belgian manager was forced to cope with yet another injury issue, something he has gotten accustomed to since arriving in Norfolk.
According to FootballInsider’s Pete O’Rourke, the Canaries appear to be seeking to address this issue for good this summer by signing Hull City’s Ryan Giles.
Giles, 26, came through Wolverhampton Wanderers’ academy and has had loan spells in the EFL with Shrewsbury Town, Coventry City, Rotherham United, Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough, and Hull, before joining the Tigers on a permanent basis for around £4 million in summer 2024.
The left-back, noted for his ability to cross the ball, appeared in 35 Championship games this season, including the play-offs, and recorded eight assists as Hull achieved an improbable promotion to the Premier League by defeating previous side Middlesbrough 1-0 at Wembley.
Despite their inflow of Premier League money, the Tigers may have to sell this summer to avoid a point deduction, and they are almost £6 million over budget, which must be addressed by the end of June.
Hull’s need to sell could benefit Norwich, as Clement plans to bring the marauding full-back to Carrow Road this summer to add much-needed strength, depth, and experience in that part of the game.
Clement has already signed Cruzeiro’s Brazilian centre-back Bruno Alves this summer, and he now hopes to make Giles his second signing, with promotion to the Premier League firmly in his sights.
Philippe Clement is seeking to move quickly this summer at Norwich City ahead of a potentially competitive Championship season.

Clement appears to be wasting no time in pursuing new signings this summer at Norwich, in what he hopes will be a much stronger season.
The Belgian has done an excellent job on and off the pitch since his arrival at Carrow Road, and he does not appear to be resting on his laurels just yet, despite a move for Giles and the acquisition of Alves.
Norwich fans have every right to trust his judgement after he shown his ability in the transfer market with the signings of Ahmed and Toure.
With nearly 200 Championship appearances under his belt at the age of 26, Giles would be a fantastic signing for any second-tier club this summer, as Norwich attempt to guarantee his next destination is in Norfolk.
