Birmingham City finished the Championship season on a high note with a five-game unbeaten streak.
Chris Davies’ status at St. Andrew’s has come under scrutiny in the last year, following the Blues’ elevation from League One.
The Midlands club scored 111 points on their way back to the Championship, but they were unable to mount another promotion campaign in 2026.
Birmingham are looking to return to the top flight for the first time since 2011, thanks to their ambitious owners, Knighthead Capital.
Davies’ side ended 10th in the table, nine points behind Hull City in sixth, who achieved promotion via the play-offs.
The club may have a busy summer ahead of them as they look to add players that will help them reduce the gap with the elite teams next season.
German side targets Birmingham City transfer agreement.

Sky Sports Germany has stated that Augsburg are interested in signing Birmingham forward Marvin Ducksch.
The Bundesliga club is looking to reinforce its forward line this summer and has set their sights on the 32-year-old.
Ducksch signed for the Championship club last year at €2 million (£1.7 million), but he struggled to get consistent playing time under Davies.
The German appeared in 33 league games, starting 25 of them, and scored 10 goals and assisted once.
The striker was also given a 14-month driving suspension earlier this month for causing a collision while over the legal drinking limit, injuring two people.
And it could hasten his departure from St. Andrew’s, with Augsburg looking to sign him back to Germany.
Ducksch’s contract is understood to have a release clause as a result of Birmingham’s failure to earn promotion.
The German club is looking for a €1 million (£860,000) deal, only a year after he moved to England.
Ducksch joined from Werder Bremen and scored eight goals and eight assists in his final season with the Bundesliga club.
It is unclear whether the forward will play a role in Davies’ plans, but if his release clause is activated, Birmingham will have little control over his status at the club.
Augsburg finished ninth in the German top division, barely four points behind seventh-place Freiburg, which qualified for European football in that position.

Marvin Ducksch’s departure is the best for Birmingham.
The signing of Ducksch had sparks of potential, but it eventually did not work out as planned, and a transfer elsewhere makes the best sense for all sides.
Being able to reclaim some of the sum invested to sign him 12 months ago will be good, if unspectacular, business for the Championship club.
Birmingham will likely aim to strengthen their attacking options this summer if they want to challenge for promotion more effectively.
If the club decides to keep Davies in charge, backing him in the transfer window will be the greatest way for him to thrive next season, and additional investment is expected during this window.
