Derby County are attracting interest from Saudi billionaire Turki Alalshikh, which may change the Championship club’s spending power.
Derby have made significant improvement since then, both on the pitch and in terms of club operations, with John Eustace’s side finishing eighth in the Championship.

So the next stage is to try to get Derby back into the Premier League, but Clowes has previously conceded that he may not have the means to compete with some of the bigger names at this level.
Simon Jordan reacts to Turki Alalshikh and Derby County investment news.
That would change if Alalshikh got involved, as the Saudi government official is extremely wealthy, and it is expected that he would attempt to make Derby a dominant force.
As a result, many fans were ecstatic when reports surfaced this week that he was in advanced talks to invest in the club, while the specifics of the agreement remain unknown.
However, speaking on TalkSPORT, ex-Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan, who knows Alalshikh from his boxing career, stated that nothing is imminent, despite recent allegations.
“I think it’s a long way off. I believe he is interested in football and wants to ensure that others are aware of his interests.
“Football is the world’s biggest sport. Football attracts more attention, awareness, and opportunities than boxing since the ceiling is much higher.”
Derby County will expect for explanation from Turki Alalshikh ahead of the summer transfer market.
This is a fascinating development because, as previously said, Jordan and Alalshikh have a close relationship, and he has provided regular updates on the Saudi billionaire when he has been linked with clubs in the past.
So, while no agreement appears to be forthcoming, it is clear that Alalshikh intends to be involved in English football in some manner moving forward.

Derby understands that he has no influence on how quickly these things happen because there are numerous obstacles to overcome. But, in a perfect world, the Rams would resolve this issue as soon as possible.
First and foremost, now that the news has been released, it may become a diversion if it continues, but the most essential part is the summer transfer window.
Clearly, if Alalshikh invests in the club, the budget that Eustace and the recruitment staff can deal with would change, and they will have already identified targets to bring in ahead of pre-season.
Nonetheless, work will continue in the background, and it will be intriguing to see how it unfolds, as well as whether Alalshikh becomes engaged with Derby, since it would be a move that could have a significant impact on the club, and potentially the Championship, heading into the 2026/27 season.
