5 players that will leave West Ham ahead of the EFL Championship have now been revealed

West Ham United’s 14-year Premier League tenure is officially over, as the Hammers will return to the Championship for the 2026/27 season, but they must first navigate a massive summer transfer market.

Despite a 3-0 home victory over Leeds United on the last day, West Ham were relegated to the Championship for the first time since 2011.

They would return to the top division the first time out, defeating Blackpool in the play-off final 2-1 thanks to a late Ricardo Vaz Te goal into the roof of the net.

Hammers fans will be hoping their spell in the second tier is as brief as the last time, but a busy summer awaits them to ensure they are fully prepared for that possibility.

Jarrod Bowen, Mateus Fernandes, Crysencio Summerville, and El Hadji Malick Diouf are all likely to receive attention after relegation and might be transferred as the club seeks to raise revenue.

There will, however, be players who will depart for nothing this summer, as FLW examines each player likely to leave the London Stadium this summer, either due to contract expiration or loan termination.

Adame Traore

Adama Traore is familiar with the Championship, having appeared 34 times for Middlesbrough in the second division during the 2017/18 season, scoring five goals and assisting 10 others.

The Spaniard is most remembered for his stint in the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he made 194 appearances before joining Fulham in 2023, where he spent two-and-a-half years until moving to West Ham for £2 million in January 2026.

The stocky winger signed a contract until the end of the season and appeared in just 115 league minutes under Nuno Espirito Santo as the Hammers were relegated, failing to produce a goal or assist.

The club does have the option of extending his contract for another year, but whether they will do so at this time remains to be seen.

Calum Wilson

Callum Wilson was on the verge of having his contract with East London terminated as the January window approached, having fallen out of favour with manager Nuno and the following additions of Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe.

However, the Englishman persevered and forced his way into Nuno’s plans, scoring seven goals and assisting one in 32 league appearances by the conclusion of the season, earning him a new deal.

Though that agreement was based on the Hammers remaining in the top division, following their relegation, the 34-year-old is expected to quit the club at the end of next month, becoming a free agent once more.

Wilson, who has 271 Premier League appearances, 95 goals, and 26 assists for clubs including Bournemouth, Newcastle United, and West Ham, might still have an influence in the top division, albeit it will almost probably not be at the London Stadium.

Lukasz Fabianski.

Lukasz Fabianski, a Polish shot-stopper, has been with West Ham for eight years, joining from Swansea City in 2018 after the Welsh club was relegated.

Fabianski, 41, was the Hammers’ first-choice option for five seasons before Alphonse Areola replaced him as a backup, and Mads Hermansen’s subsequent arrival dropped him to third place this season.

With 376 Premier League appearances for Arsenal, Swansea, and West Ham, Fabianski’s tenure at the top level is almost probably over, and his next destination is currently unknown after his contract expires.

Axel Dispasi

Axel Disasi has struggled since moving to England in the summer of 2023, when he joined Chelsea from Monaco for about £38 million after starring at Le Rouge et Blanc.

The French defender would be a regular at Stamford Bridge in his first season, but he has since gone on loan to Aston Villa and West Ham, joining the latter in January 2026.

Disasi would go on to make 14 league games for the Hammers, and by all accounts, did well on a personal level, but his efforts were unable to protect the club from relegation, and his loan move is unlikely to be made permanent this summer as he prepares to return to Chelsea.

Keiber Lamadrid

You could be forgiven for not knowing this transfer occurred, as Venezuelan winger Keiber Lamadrid joined West Ham on loan from Colombian club Deportivo La Guaira in the January window.

During his six months in East London, Lamadrid, 22, did not make a single league game, with his solitary outing coming in the FA Cup against Burton Albion.

His move is unlikely to be permanent, as Lamadrid prepares to return to South America following a brief loan period in the English metropolis.
