Frank Lampard’s value has greatly increased as a result of leading Coventry to the Championship title, and Crystal Palace are eyeing him up as Oliver Glasner’s replacement.

Crystal Palace have approached Frank Lampard about becoming their next manager, with the Coventry manager’s future in the Midlands uncertain despite their promotion.
The 47-year-old recently led Coventry to the Championship title, ending the club’s 25-year absence from the Premier League, but his performances have piqued the interest of the Eagles, who need to replace the departing Oliver Glasner.
The Sun knows that they have approached Lampard, who has top-flight experience with Chelsea and Everton, about taking charge at Selhurst Park. Fulham are also interested, but will have to wait and see if Marco Silva extends his deal.
Lampard, who has also been linked with a third term at Chelsea, is believed to be evaluating his options despite having only recently completed his promotion celebrations.
Coventry may have won the title, but there will be worries about their long-term viability as a Premier League club. Sky Blues owner Doug King is unlikely to have the money to invest in the squad, and King has publicly indicated that he may struggle to retain his manager this summer.
Lampard has 12 months left on his present contract and will be offered a better deal, but King is unlikely to stand in his way if he wants to leave. Palace believes that under Lampard, they can build on the success Glasner has brought to south London.
The Eagles have been in the Premier League since 2013, winning the FA Cup last year. Glasner could end his career on a bright note if the club advances to the Europa Conference League final, where they will face Rayo Vallecano in Leipzig later this month.

Glasner publicly chastised Palace for allowing its top players to leave when Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi left within six months of each other. But the club did splurge in January, paying £78 million to sign Brennan Johnson and Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Leeds and Sunderland have broken the norm of promoted teams regressing this season. Prior to then, the three promoted teams were all relegated to the second tier within two years of their promotion.
