Dejphon Chansiri faces criticism following a ‘mind-boggling’ twist in the Sheffield Wednesday takeover.

Sheffield Wednesday’s Dejphon Chansiri era is finally ended, as David Storch’s takeover was announced this weekend.

South Yorkshire has been relieved in recent days, with the Owls’ takeover secured in time for the team to defeat West Bromwich Albion in front of a sell-out crowd at Hillsborough in 2025-26.

The Owls have had a really tough campaign. However, at one point, Dejphon Chansiri and David Storch were in closer communication to finalize a transaction, and everything appeared to be moving in the right direction.

However, it was then revealed that Chansiri had threatened to halt Storch’s takeover of Sheffield Wednesday several times in recent weeks. It became worse, however, when Chansiri requested that the Wednesday takeover be halted and a fresh bidding procedure begin – but it was too little, too late.

Dejphon Chansiri is derided for his pre-takeover Sheffield Wednesday antics.

We spoke with FLW’s Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit Patrick McKenna about Chansiri’s apparent desire to halt Sheffield Wednesday’s takeover and begin a new bidding process at the last minute. We inquired if the Owls had the last laugh on him…

McKenna said to FLW: “Yeah, the news that Dejphon Chansiri wanted to stop the Sheffield Wednesday takeover at the 11th hour is genuinely one of the funniest things I’ve heard in a long time.”It made me laugh out loud, and it was the perfect way to cap off a fantastic few days for Sheffield Wednesday.

“We are laughing at you, Mr. Chansiri, for your rancid ownership of the club and complete disrespect for the fans and staff.”Who is laughing now? Due to your refusal to work with the Arise consortium, you will receive a significantly lower compensation for the club than you desired.

You believed you were being clever and would have one last advantage over us. But you lost, Dejphon.

“And now we have a bright future, and you are an absolute embarrassment. This is a guy who clearly does not understand business. He didn’t comprehend the administrative process. It’s perplexing that a so-called businessman wouldn’t, but he evidently believed that he still had some power, even over administration. However, he had little control over the club and could not influence the process.”Hopefully,

he is sitting in Thailand now crying and stamping his feet, completely gutted and raging at how this has ended.”The guy who wanted to change the path of the [River] Don flowing behind the pitch and thought the Mayor of Sheffield could get rid of this HMRC bill—you are an idiot, Mr. Chansiri, and we will keep laughing at you now.”

Sheffield Wednesday might be a sleeping giant waking up.

The attitude around Sheffield Wednesday is now one of evident relief that Chansiri has finally left. Years of insecurity, financial concerns, and limited communication have exhausted supporters, but it is over.

Many fans who feel estranged with the team they love can return to Hillsborough in League One. Chansiri’s reign has been marked by controversy and a lack of cohesion, which has undermined trust among fans till now with Storch, Arise, and co.

However, his departure marks more than just a change in ownership; it is a much-needed reset. Fans should be cautiously optimistic, expecting for clearer direction, better decision-making, and a reconnection between club and community.

This sleeping titan of English football has long lacked something at Hillsborough.
