Sheffield United have had an uneven 2026, much to the annoyance of manager Chris Wilder.
The boyhood supporter returned to the bench in September for his third tenure in charge at Bramall Lane, inheriting a team in relegation danger after a terrible start under Ruben Selles.
So, while Wilder deserves credit for ensuring the Blades didn’t face relegation, their recent form has been troubling.

Despite Scott Parker’s availability, Chris Wilder remains committed to bringing success to Sheffield United. Wilder has expressed disappointment with recent performances and plans to restructure the squad this summer.
Most supporters would agree with that, yet, like the players, Wilder has come under scrutiny.
There is no indication that Wilder will lose his job, and many fans believe he can lead the squad to another promotion. However, the Blades will be an appealing alternative for potential managers, given Scott Parker has now become available after leaving Burnley.
The former England international has gained promotion from the second tier with Fulham, Bournemouth, and the Clarets, so his Championship record is impressive.
When asked by FLW whether the Yorkshire club should consider Parker if Wilder has a difficult start to next season, Sheffield United fan pundit Jimmy from the Blades Ramble YouTube admitted he would be a good option, but he made it clear that he believes Wilder will bring more success to Bramall Lane.
“Parker would be an excellent signing for any Championship club looking to gain promotion to the Premier League.” He’s done it before with multiple clubs, and I’m sure he’ll be in high demand.
“However, Sheffield United do not need to replace their manager. We also have one with a proven track record of promotion, and he is the person I want to take us ahead.
“If we had an opening, Parker would definitely be of interest to us. But there is no vacancy, and Wilder is the man to take us ahead into the next season.”
Chris Wilder needs Sheffield United’s support this summer.
Parker’s availability will alarm a number of Championship clubs looking to push for promotion, since he has demonstrated the potential to do so.

Sheffield United come into that category, and if Wilder gets off to a horrible start next season, he will be aware that his career is in jeopardy, since the Blades should be aiming for a top-eight finish.
However, his sole focus will be on developing the squad, and if he is given adequate backing, Wilder has demonstrated that he can construct sides capable of challenging for promotion, and he has done so on a smaller budget than Parker throughout the years.
Clearly, serious change is needed at Bramall Lane, but the Blades aren’t in a position to spend big money on players.
So it’s about getting the recruitment right, finding players that fit Wilder’s style, and hoping that the team can compete at the top of the Championship table next season.
