Chris Davies has issued a transfer update on the Birmingham City future of the £6.9m-rated star.

Inconsistency has plagued Birmingham City’s season, which barely matches the aspirations and financial might displayed in this region of the West Midlands in recent years.

But now, with a timely 2-0 victory over Wrexham at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park last time out ending a previous run of concerning results and performances that had seen Birmingham’s top six hopes fade away, and they are now expected to finish in mid-table, the 41-year-old is under tremendous pressure from large sections of supporters.

This is true even though director of football Craig Gardner and ownership company Knighthead Capital Management once again strongly supported Davies’ decision to make a significant roster change in January in an effort to boost their chances of promotion.

In addition to a significant departure of former B9 periphery players, a few new players were added, and Patrick Roberts’ loan move from Sunderland became permanent.

Following Blues’ initial loan agreement with La Liga team Girona FC for the feisty Colombian, Jhon Solis was one of the first players to arrive in the West Midlands in January.

The likelihood of a long-term summer transfer for the 21-year-old has also increased because the initial agreement is practically complete.

Chris Davies offers a new transfer update regarding Jhon Solis, a loanee of Birmingham City.

Details about the deal the Blues had reached with the Catalan team had surfaced prior to Solis’ temporary transfer to the Second City being finalized in mid-January.

According to reports, the Championship team would pay Girona an initial loan fee of about £430,000 until the end of the current campaign. There have also been rumors that the Blues would have to pay a £6.9 million transfer fee if they were promoted to the Premier League, and that this fee could also be triggered by an appearance-based clause.

Although it has become apparent that the appearance-based condition pertains to the total amount of minutes that Solis plays, the club does have the option to pay the aforementioned fee, which currently seems to be the most likely situation given their diminished play-off aspirations, according to Birmingham Live.

Despite Solis’s 14 appearances for his loan club thus far, the clause that required 11 games to be played hasn’t been activated.

Davies, on the other hand, thinks Solis may have accomplished enough for Birmingham to think about a permanent move this summer.

When asked about those chances, Davies responded, “I think he has.” He has demonstrated, in my opinion, that he is truly suited for this level.

His physicality allows him to play, but he can also perform all the dirty tasks, including as winning tackles, duels, and seconds balls. He also has strength and speed.

“We’ve had internal discussions about what kind of squad we think can push us on next year, and we’ve been really happy with what he’s done,” he continued. “There is a possibility of that within the structure of the loan.”

“When the season is over, everyone should talk about that and figure out what can be done.”

In the future, Jhon Solis might play a significant role for Birmingham City.

Given Davies’ recent remarks, it would be reasonable to assume that the club’s top summer priority is to sign Solis permanently because he has the potential to develop into a crucial player.

The midfielder, who is only 21 years old, has a lot of experience playing in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, so if he reaches his full potential, he could surpass most Championship midfielders.

This is a transaction that makes sense for all parties since, aside from a red card against Millwall in February, the Colombian has been a welcome addition to the Blues’ midfield alongside Paik Seung-ho and Wolves loanee Tommy Doyle.
