From bad to worse, Sheffield Wednesday will begin the league season. One season with a 15 POINT deduction and no buyers willing to pay the unpopular owner.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY is expected to start League One with a 15-point deficit.

That is because none of the buyers interested in buying the club are willing to pay outgoing Dejphon Chansiri £15 million.

Mike Ashley, who previously owned Premier League club Newcastle United, and American billionaire David Storch are two of the major candidates to take over the struggling club, with others also in contention.

However, Sky Sports reports that NONE of the current buyers interested in potential acquisitions are willing to pay cash to the present owner.

According to EFL rules, anyone intending to take over a club must pay all ‘football creditors’ in full.

Other creditors, such as Chansiri, are expected to receive a fifth of what they are owed, according to the same publication.

If any of these policies are broken, it results in a 15-point penalty.

To avoid a further suspension for next season, Chansiri must be paid £15 million of the £60 million he has invested in the club.

The Championship team is still looking for a buyer after entering administration in October.

A group managed by James Bord was on the verge of closing a deal before imploding last month.

That created an opportunity for Ashley to take control, but he was outbid by American billionaire David Storch, according to the Times.

After going 30 games without a win, the Owls’ on-field performance hasn’t improved much this season.

After losing 2-1 to Derby County, they became only the fifth club in English Football League history to go that long without a win.

Wednesday, already relegated to the third tier, have lost 13 league games in a row.

The club’s last point in the league was a home draw with Blackburn at the end of December, and they are currently on -7 as a result of all the fines imposed this season.
