A supercomputer has updated its EFL Championship play-off predictions after Wrexham’s latest victory

Wrexham took a significant stride towards the Championship play-offs on Friday night, defeating Swansea City 2-0.

Nathan Broadhead started the scoring before Liam Cullen’s late own goal put an end to the game.

With the scores still equal, Championship Zan Vipotnik rushed through on goal, but his shot was saved by Arthur Okonkwo.

Wrexham had experienced a minor setback over the previous week, losing to Chelsea in the FA Cup before being rocked by Hull City on Tuesday.

But Friday’s massive win has given them a six-point lead over seventh-placed Southampton, who do have a game in hand.

Supercomputer updates Championship prediction.

Much of the attention over the last week has switched to happenings near the top of the table. Millwall are now just one point away from automatic promotion as Middlesbrough falters.

Boro were shocked to lose to Charlton Athletic at the Riverside Stadium on Wednesday, leaving the fight for second wide open.

Middlesbrough may feel unfairly treated after ex-PGMOL chief Keith Hackett told Football Insider that Luke Chambers should have been sent off, but Millwall and Ipswich Town would not care.

The hunt for the final play-off berth remains fierce, with Southampton firmly on Wrexham’s tail.

Derby County, Watford, and Birmingham City are also aiming to stay in the race, but they are further behind.

Both Wrexham and Southampton will be looking forward to their clash at the Racecourse Ground next month, which might be pivotal.

For the time being, Opta’s supercomputer has predicted that Wales would finish in the top six, giving them a 59.44 percent chance.

Southampton has been allocated 31.76 percent, while Derby, the next closest rival, has a mere 7.20 percent chance of making the cut.

Supercomputer backs Middlesbrough’s rise

Another critical upcoming match is Millwall’s trip to Middlesbrough in early April, which might be decisive.

The Lions have never competed in the Premier League and have not been in the top level since the 1989-90 season.

They will consider this campaign as the best opportunity they have had in a long time and will be determined to seize it.

Nonetheless, the supercomputer has maintained its backing for Middlesbrough, giving them a 47.20 percent chance of automatic promotion. Millwall, on the other hand, still has a 25.04 percent chance and will not give up.
