Sheffield Wednesday issue a plea over ‘terrible situation’ as Rangers and Wrexham plot Owls transfer swoop

As their dreadful season continues, Sheffield Wednesday may face a difficult finale to the January transfer window.

With the club still in administration and waiting to see if James Bord’s consortium’s takeover will be approved by the EFL, Wednesday may need to sell some of their key players before the end of the window to raise funds to help them through the rest of season.

One man leaving Hillsborough is defender Yisa Alao, who is likely to join Chelsea for an initial cost of £500,000 plus add-ons, and it appears he will be followed by long-serving captain Barry Bannan.

Bannan, who has been with the Owls for over a decade, is scheduled to play his farewell game against Bristol City on Saturday before moving to Millwall. While his departure may be the most heartbreaking, he is unlikely to be the last high-profile departure before the February 2nd deadline.

According to The Star, defender Yan Valery is attracting considerable interest from other clubs, with Championship promotion hopefuls Wrexham and Scottish giants Rangers both expected to make bids for the 26-year-old this month.

Valery, who recently returned from international service with Tunisia at the Africa Cup of Nations, has made 21 appearances for Wednesday this season, but his time in S6 could be coming to an end, and if he joins Rangers, he will rejoin with former Owls manager Danny Rohl.

Yan Valery, Sheffield Wednesday’s exit is forecast as Wrexham and Rangers circle.

According to FLW’s Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit Patrick McKenna, Valery could be interested in a move to Wrexham or Rangers. McKenna also expressed concern about a potential fire sale at Hillsborough in the winter window.According to Patrick, a fire sale is likely during the transfer window’s final days.Unfortunately, the administration process requires accepting market value bids for players.”They need to have a backup plan in case the takeover fails.”Rangers administrators faced criticism for failing to accept transfer bids and implement a contingency plan.In a perfect scenario, new owners would already be in place, eliminating the need for a fire sale. However, during a bad season, a fire sale may be necessary for the fandom.”Yan Valery will be tempted away from Sheffield Wednesday.”This season has been a nightmare for all players, and he has no desire to play in League One next season. If he gets the opportunity to play for Rangers under Danny Rohl, he will want to depart.Even Wrexham would be a more appealing site than Hillsborough, regrettably.

“He won’t be the only player tempted, and it seems we are in danger of losing other players such as Bannan, Lowe and Cadamarteri.”I’m only praying that this dreadful scenario will end sometime, but I’ll have to put up with a fire sale of an already decimated squad.

Barry Bannan’s developments could have a domino effect on Sheffield Wednesday, amid Yan Valery’s interest.

Wednesday has had a dreadful season, and with no sign of a takeover looming, the ailing Championship club’s fortunes could worsen in the next week.

Given that Rohl previously worked with Valery at Southampton and signed him for the Owls last summer, it is possible that the defender would be eager to reunite with the German at Ibrox, while the potential of joining Wrexham’s promotion campaign could also be appealing.

With the uncertainty at Hillsborough prompting even a loyal servant like Bannan to decide to leave, the Scot’s departure could spark a chain reaction of other departures, and as clubs prepare bids for Valery, Wednesday may receive offers for Pierce Charles, Max Lowe, Charlie McNeill, and Bailey Cadamarteri before the end of the window.
