West Brom completed a transfer raid on Bristol City by defeating Derby County and QPR.

In an attempt to solve their goalkeeping problems, West Brom has made a move for Max O’Leary of Bristol City. Eric Ramsay’s team has given up eight goals in his first two games as manager of the Baggies.

According to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas, Max O’Leary of Bristol City is expected to join the Baggies team this month, marking Eric Ramsay’s first acquisition as West Brom’s manager.

Under Gerhard Struber, O’Leary has lost favor at Ashton Gate this season, and Radek Vitek, a loanee from Manchester United, has taken over as the Robins’ number one.

After being the team’s number one for the previous three seasons before to this one, the once-capped Irish international has only made five league appearances this season and is expected to depart the team he has played his whole career with in January.

Joshua Griffiths and Joe Wildsmith have both been tried in goal at various points this season, and West Brom has battled with their current goalkeeper position.

After a 3-2 home victory over Swansea City, former manager Ryan Mason made the crucial choice to bench Griffiths in favor of Wildsmith, however it didn’t exactly have the desired outcome.

Even though he would stay in goal until Mason’s departure, Wildsmith would be held accountable for two goals in the Baggies’ 3-2 away loss at Queens Park Rangers in early December.

Although Ramsay has brought Griffiths back into the lineup since he joined The Hawthorns, the Welsh manager has seen enough to address the goalkeeper position as a problem after the team has let up eight goals in their last two games.

With only six months left on his contract at Ashton Gate, O’Leary, 29, is available for a low price this month. Derby County, Blackburn Rovers, and QPR have all expressed interest in the Irishman.

But it looks like the Baggies have won the battle for his services, and he will probably be given the opportunity to establish himself as West Brom’s top goalie as soon as he arrives.

Blackburn Rovers, Derby County, and QPR have all tried to sign Max O’Leary, but West Brom has repelled their advances.

Derby, Blackburn, and QPR had all expressed interest in signing O’Leary earlier this month, but West Brom has surpassed their fellow Championship rivals to the top of the list.

It appears that Julien Stephan’s team is unhappy with their current generation of goalkeepers, since QPR has employed Paul Nardi, Joe Walsh, and Ben Hamer in their last four league games. Murphy Cooper is also leaving on loan once more.

This season, Blackburn has utilized both Aynsley Pears and Balasz Toth. However, due to Pears’ injury, 18-year-old Nicholas Michalski has had to fill in on the bench, leaving Valerien Ismael’s team lacking in that area.

Due to Josh Vickers’ injury and Jacob Widell Zetterstrom’s dizziness during the warm-up, Derby had to give 37-year-old Richard O’Donnell his Rams debut in their 2-1 away victory over Charlton Athletic.

Even though the Baggies appear to have won the battle for O’Leary’s signature, Ramsay will be hoping that he can offer the team a stable and composed presence in goal during this tumultuous time.
