Birmingham City can fix the massive Chris Davies issue with the Wolves transfer agreement.

Birmingham City has once again been aggressive in the transfer market, as they look to Chris Davies to deliver promotion this season.

There’s no arguing that the Blues have underperformed thus far, but they’ll still believe a top-six finish is achievable, and the manager will have learned a lot from the first six months of the season.

So, January has been spent addressing squad deficiencies, and Birmingham deserves credit for moving quickly to bring in Kai Wagner to address the lack of depth at left-back. A deal for Jhon Solis is also expected to be completed, with the Colombian adding further muscle to the midfield.

Birmingham City lack a creative spark in their final third.

On paper, they appear to be two clever additions, but the Blues still appear to be lacking in the final third, and bringing in a strong number 10 should be a priority.

When Kanya Fujimoto signed in the summer, there were hopes that he would be a creative number 10, feeding Kyogo Furuhashi, Marvin Ducksch, and Jay Stansfield.

However, the former Gil Vicente man has received little attention, and while the Blues’ record of 35 goals in 26 games is respectable, they still want players who can make a difference in tight games.

While Davies has a lot of attacking talent, only Patrick Roberts is capable of playing the type of ball that can open up a deep defence or perform some magic to upset the opposition.

Fer Lopez might prosper at Birmingham City amid Wolves leave talks.

As a result, bringing in another technical attacker should be a priority for the Blues, and the solution to Davies’ dilemma may be discovered at Wolves later.

Fer Lopez joined Wanderers for £19 million in the summer after impressing at Celta Vigo, but he has failed to adjust to English football, and it is expected that he will be loaned to a Championship club during this window.

Despite his failures, with only one assist in nine appearances, Lopez possesses undeniable skill.

The 21-year-old is incredibly gifted on the ball, and he has demonstrated in his brief time on the field that he can make fantastic passes with his left foot. In addition, he can beat his opponent and fire from a distance.

However, there are weaknesses in his game, as one would anticipate from someone so young. Lopez lacks the physicality required to compete in the Premier League, and Wolves’ current troubles do not lend themselves well to his talents.

It appears that he would thrive from playing in a club that seeks to control possession, which could make him a great fit for Birmingham and Davies.

The Blues are sixth in the Championship in terms of possession, so he would be joining a much more attacking squad.

With midfielders like Solis, Paik Seung-ho, and Tomoki Iwata, Davies should be able to put together a side with the physical attributes to compensate for Lopez’s weaknesses.

Then the goal would be to get him on the ball in the final third. That’s where Lopez can really affect the opponent, and Kyogo and Stansfield, two players who are willing to go in behind and prolong the game, would benefit from playing alongside someone with the Wolves’ vision.

Lopez has been capped by Spain’s U21s and has previously trained with the senior team during international holidays, so there’s no doubt this is a genuine talent.

Despite their rivalry, the Blues and Wolves should recognize that this could be mutually beneficial.

Wolves will realize that Lopez has to play in the Championship ahead of their certain relegation, and he might give the inventiveness that Birmingham may need in the future as they seek back-to-back promotions.
