Henrik Pedersen drops Sheffield Wednesday, Manchester United transfer update – it could effect Stoke City

Harry Amass’ future is uncertain after his loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday ended, with the Owls one of several second-tier clubs interested in bringing the highly regarded defender back to the Championship.

The Sheffield Star says that, despite receiving more lucrative cash offers from rival Championship clubs this January, Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen feels a return is possible.

The Owls have had a difficult season on the pitch, with a depleted senior squad plagued by injuries forcing Pedersen to rely on a number of young, inexperienced players throughout the Championship season.

However, one bright spot was the development of Amass, who was the only outfielder Wednesday could bring in on loan during the summer transfer window.

The 18-year-old acquired crucial experience during his first loan term away from parent club Manchester United, starting every Championship game he was available for and collecting back-to-back club Player of the Month accolades before his contract expired at the beginning of January.

Henrik Pedersen discusses Harry Amass’ wishes at Sheffield Wednesday.

Henrik Pedersen has previously claimed that Amass wants to stay at Sheffield Wednesday for the rest of the season as a result of his exposure to first-team play at Hillsborough.

Stoke City and Watford have been linked with a move for the 18-year-old since his return to Manchester United, who would provide a better squad for Amass to play in while also allowing the Red Devils to make some money, with Wednesday presently limited to no-fee loans.

Despite Wednesday’s financial limitations compared to other interested teams, the Owls’ manager believes the left-sided utility man will remain at Hillsborough. We have good communication with Harry, but nothing has been finalised. Pedersen told the Sheffield Star that he remains optimistic despite the uncertainty of the outcome.I guess I’m somewhere between optimistic and confident about it. There is not just hope, but also belief that it is possible. However, there are still numerous circumstances in the big picture. However, I remain hopeful and believe that it is still possible. So let’s see how things go over the next few days.

Pedersen has revealed that he hopes to see some progress on the matter soon, as failing to recover Amass’ services will force Wednesday to look elsewhere.

The transfer window ends in just over two weeks, leaving little time to find a suitable successor.I’m hoping for a decision quickly, because otherwise we’ll have to consider what we’ll do instead of him.”

Harry Amass’s probable return to Sheffield Wednesday will benefit from first-team football exposure.

There’s no doubt that Amass will remain one of Sheffield Wednesday’s first names on the teamsheet if he returns this month, and that will most certainly take precedence over any other part of a loan move.

While a loan fee or a portion of the income would be ideal for Manchester United, their player’s progression comes first, and with Wednesday, progression is guaranteed.

The Premier League heavyweights have already witnessed how the 18-year-old has progressed in the first half of the season, even if Wednesday continue to struggle on the pitch as a whole, and Henrik Pedersen is hoping that this will ensure Amass’s continued presence at Hillsborough.

QPR shot-stopper Murphy Cooper and Manchester City youngster Jaden Heskey are both heavily linked with loan moves to Sheffield Wednesday in the coming weeks, as first reported exclusively by Football League World, and those, combined with an Amass return, would represent a decent winter window for the Owls.
