Despite the recent departure of Keshi Anderson, Chris Davies has told Birmingham City fans that a plan is in place and that his team would not be lacking in offensive options.

The club confirmed on Sunday that the wideman, who was in contention for Player of the Year at Birmingham in last season’s League One campaign, had mutually agreed to end his contract after a disappointing return to the Championship.

Anderson had started just seven league games for the Blues this season, scoring once, and after being substituted 30 minutes into a 3-0 loss at Sheffield United on December 20th, he made only one squad appearance in the four league games that followed his release.

However, 19 appearances so far this season indicate that the 30-year-old was a valuable squad player, and with Demarai Gray out until February, Chris Davies is now short of men on the left side of his attack.

According to Birmingham World, Blues manager Chris Davies explained why Anderson was let go this week and added that the team is working hard to bring in reinforcements as soon as possible.”We are shaping the squad to achieve our goals for the season and beyond,” he stated.I believe there are players that want to play and would like to do so more frequently. We are evaluating all options to determine our needs.We’re not far away from bringing in new players, so I don’t anticipate a significant shift. We will not be short on numbers by the end of January. We will cover those positions for the interim term.We wish Keshi success in the future. He played well for us in League One. He hasn’t played as much this season, but I wish him all the best in the future.

With a challenging trip to Swansea City on the horizon this Saturday and no hint of an impending arrival before then, there are questions regarding the timing of these decisions.

Kanya Fujimoto, a forgotten guy, has recently been earning more minutes off the bench, and Willum Willumsson, who had been absent for three months, has been forced to start three of the previous five Championship games.

And it appears that Chris Davies will have to rely on these squad players a little more in the future games while the team looks for suitable replacements.

With recent on-field results, barring the big win over Coventry City a fortnight ago, being less than ideal, as well as an availability crisis exacerbated by the departures of a couple of key squad players with no incomings, it’s easy to fear the worst at Birmingham right now.
