Nottingham Forest is the latest team to enter the hunt for Norwich City USMNT forward Josh Sargent, whose future with the Canaries is in doubt following his recent refusal to be included in the squad for the club’s FA Cup clash with Walsall.
According to Mike McGrath of X, Nottingham Forest is the latest team to have nominated Norwich attacker Josh Sargent for a potential January transfer.
Sargent, who has scored double figures in each of his last three Championship campaigns, recently declined to play in Norwich’s FA Cup match against Walsall, with the American looking for a way out of Carrow Road in January.
According to Fabrizio Romano, MLS side Toronto FC bid $18 million (£13.5 million) for Sargent last week.
With the Canaries struggling at the bottom of the division, they would want to keep Sargent, but given the form of teammate Jovon Makama this season, a January exit is possible, with Forest the latest club to express an interest.
Nottingham Forest has entered the race for Norwich City striker Josh Sargent.

Indeed, Forest isn’t the only team interested in Sargent. In addition to the aforementioned bid from Toronto, the 25-year-old was scouted by Leeds United, Burnley, and, most recently, West Ham this summer.
However, with Leeds having signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, Burnley having signed Lyle Foster and Armando Broja, and West Ham having completed the double swoop for strikers Pablo Felipe and Valentin Castellanos, a move to either of those teams is improbable.
Sargent was on the verge of leaving Norfolk during the summer transfer window, with Norwich accepting a £21 million deal from German club VFL Wolfsburg, only for the American to reject the offer.
Instead, he elected to stay at Carrow Road for his fifth season, but given recent developments, it is unlikely that he will finish his fifth year there.
Forest, headed by Sean Dyche, have been without New Zealand attacker Chris Wood for much of this season due to injury, despite scoring 34 Premier League goals in the previous two seasons, and are now looking for reinforcements in that area.
With Igor Jesus providing competition, Sargent may easily stay in England and make the jump back to the top division, much to the disappointment of Norwich fans.
Josh Sargent’s transfer dilemma will be a significant blow to Philippe Clement and Norwich City.

Few individuals will be more disgusted with Sargent’s actions than Norwich manager Philippe Clement.
The Belgian has overseen an improvement in form and performance at Carrow Road since replacing Liam Manning in the Canaries’ dugout, but the club remains in the bottom three halfway through the season.
The widespread assumption in the division is that Norwich will eventually climb their way to safety, but they will certainly find it much more difficult without Sargent, despite Makama’s form.
Sargent has made over 150 appearances for Norwich in all competitions, scoring over 70 goals and remained an almost constant presence when fit in the team.
Norwich fans will undoubtedly be disappointed to lose him now, especially in this manner. If he does make the transition to Forest or elsewhere, the money they receive for the American must be spent properly; else, fears of relegation will grow.
