Frank Lampard reveals a double Coventry City boost ahead of the Leicester City clash.

Frank Lampard has provided Coventry City supporters with a positive team news update ahead of their Championship match against Leicester City on Saturday.

The Sky Blues stay top of the second tier after losing two of their previous three league games, including a 3-2 loss to Birmingham City on January 4.

Lampard’s side were also eliminated from the FA Cup last weekend, losing 1-0 to Stoke City, with Lamine Cisse scoring in the 88th minute.

Meanwhile, Leicester returned to the top half of the Championship by defeating West Brom 1-0 on January 5, before overcoming League Two club Cheltenham Town in the FA Cup.

Frank Lampard provides an update on Victor Torp and Brandon Thomas-Asante ahead of Coventry City’s game against Leicester City.

Coventry must overcome the Foxes on Saturday to maintain their six-point lead over Middlesbrough, who visit West Brom on Friday night.

Lampard’s team’s current form suggests that they may struggle against Marti Cifuentes’ side, as the King Power Stadium club has won three of their past four games overall.

However, the Sky Blues will be in fantastic position to face Leicester, as Lampard has announced that Victor Torp and Brandon Thomas-Asante, who had previously been sidelined due to injury, might play at the CBS Arena.

Speaking to Coventry Live on Friday, the former Chelsea manager stated: “Torpy and Brandon are in contention for tomorrow.”

Lampard also gave an update on full-back Kaine Kesler-Hayden, who last played on New Year’s Day: “Yeah, he’s a couple of weeks away, but he’s doing well.”

The Sky Blues manager has not provided an update on goalkeeper Oliver Dovin’s improvement in the last week due to other priorities. But he’s doing fine. He isn’t on the training pitch yet, and I don’t want to put any pressure on that timeframe. We’re hoping he’ll be available for us this season, but I’m not sure when, and I don’t want to commit to anything.

Torp’s last appearance for Coventry was a 2-0 loss to Ipswich Town on December 29, whereas Thomas-Asante has not played for his team since a 4-2 win over Middlesbrough in November.

Victor Torp and Brandon Thomas-Asante’s returns are exactly what Frank Lampard needs.

Lampard’s squad has had a fairly good season and is currently top of the Championship with 20 games remaining.

However, their title ambitions and automatic promotion credentials have suffered in recent weeks, with only one win in their previous four league games.

As a result, the return of Torp and Thomas-Asante, who have been key players for the Sky Blues this season, is a timely boost for Lampard.

Torp has established himself as one of the top Championship midfielders in recent seasons, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 21 league appearances this season.

Meanwhile, striker Thomas-Asante has established his worth this season, scoring 10 goals in 17 second-tier appearances, and he will be hungry to score against Leicester.
