Swindon Town have completed the Wolves transfer deal.

Swindon Town are set to sign Wolves striker Fletcher Holman on loan until the end of the season, with Ian Holloway’s side expected to outbid a number of unnamed fourth-tier clubs for the highly rated forward and complete some more early-window business at the County Ground.โ€‹

This comes after the Robins manager held his cards close to his chest when questioned about the possibility last Thursday.

Speaking to BBC Radio Wiltshire on January 8th, Holloway refused to confirm or deny the club’s interest in the Premier League teenager, but he did emphasise the importance of being selective about how many loan slots he utilizes in the second half of the season.

Journalist Darren Witcoop stated on X that Swindon are close to signing teenage Wolves forward Holman on a loan deal for the duration of the season.

As previously said, it is thought that several other League Two clubs were vying for his services before the Robins climbed to the top of the list.

The 21-year-old joined Wolves from Eastbourne Borough two years ago after a successful period in non-league, where he scored 10 goals in fifteen games in the National League South.

The Robins have already been very active in the winter window, signing Brentford winger Michael Olakigbe and Aston Villa midfielder Aidan Borland on loan.

Holloway has also signed Sunderland midfielder Ben Middlemas on a permanent basis as the 62-year-old manager seeks to strengthen a squad capable of sustaining an automatic promotion campaign. This implies Holman’s addition would bring the total number of January signings to 4.

How Fletcher Holman might fit into Ian Holloway’s Swindon Town plans

If Holman comes at the County Ground as planned, his profile appears to match the work Swindon has already done this month, as well as the offensive approach Holloway has attempted to establish since taking charge.

Holman is a striker by trade, but he can also play out wide, and Wolves see him as a dynamic, hardworking forward with a goal-scoring eye.

A motivated young forward wanting to show himself in the EFL may be a welcome addition to Swindon, who are currently at the top of League Two and hoping to sustain momentum in a promotion push.

Holloway’s comments about not ‘going over the top’ with loan signings imply that, if the Robins are willing to spend a valuable place on Holman, they consider him as someone capable of making a significant contribution in the run-in rather than simply filling squad gaps.

With the Wiltshire-based club already strengthening its midfield and wide areas this month, focusing on the number nine position seems like a reasonable move for more variation in the final third.

For Wolves, Swindon’s strong position in the standings – second in League Two – makes them an appealing partner for a Premier League club looking for a competitive yet stable environment for a young attacker looking to establish himself.
