Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is confident that there will be player movement at Bramall Lane within the next week.
According to the Sheffield Star, the Blades manager feels that now that the FA Cup third-round weekend is over, business will “accelerate,” and players will join and leave the club in preparation for their visit to Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
Sheffield United has one in, one extended, and four out so far this January. Along with the renewal of Patrick Bamford’s contract until the end of next season, Wolves’ Ki-Jana Hoever signed on loan.
On the other hand, Sam Curtis and Louie Marsh have both been loaned out till the end of the season, while Louie Barry and Ben Godfrey have been returned to their respective clubs following their loan periods at Bramall Lane.
There is still plenty of room to operate, however, with several young and periphery players at the club expected to go on loan before the February 2nd deadline, freeing up space for other acquisitions.
Chris Wilder is sure that there will be signings and exits from Sheffield United this week.

Speaking to the Sheffield Star after the Blades’ FA Cup third round defeat to Mansfield Town on Sunday, Chris Wilder was clear about his ambitions to transfer certain players on and bring new ones in over the next week: “Yeah, they need to.” “They have to.”It’s been challenging with the numbers we’ve been dealing with, and I’ve spoken Steve [Bettis, Sheffield United’s CEO] about it. So we have to work hard. Some players, including those who played against Mansfield, may not have contributed to their team’s success in regular football. But some of the younger players must go out and play because, as we’ve always understood since I walked through the door, the squad is too large and fat.
Marsh and Curtis are excellent examples of young players who require playing time. Ryan One, who is connected with Rotherham United, is another young player who is expected to leave this month.
The Blades’ AI-identified signing policy may lead to the departure of Mihail Polendakov, Christian Nwachukwu, and Ehije Ukaki, who have had limited opportunities to play under Wilder.I believe things will speed up. I’ve previously stated that I believe teams will play some players who don’t typically get games, which may free them up. And I’m confident that will happen. We have to keep working to improve, but we’ll be OK at Charlton next week.”
Sheffield United will have a clean road to the finish line after the January transfer window shuts.

Chris Wilder emphasized the value of “togetherness and tightness” in a group, which cannot be achieved with a large team.
Finally, as the Sheffield United manager looks to trim the squad ahead of a busy second half of the season, letting go of some of the dead wood in the first team squad this January is almost as vital, if not more so, as bringing in new players.
With Chris Wilder’s team out of the FA Cup, Sheffield United can concentrate on the Championship task at hand, and they can even afford to have a smaller roster to instill consistency in starting lineups and gain momentum towards the finish line.
Many Blades fans can’t wait for business to be completed and the January transfer window to end so that the team can get its heads down and focus on moving up the second-tier table.
And, despite Chris Wilder’s thoughts on the squad, no team has won more points in the last ten games than Sheffield United, so it will be very hazardous to watch what the Blades’ manager can achieve in the coming weeks.
