Hull City are close to making their first signing of the winter transfer window, with Seny Dieng expected to sign a permanent contract with the Tigers.
The experienced goalkeeper is believed to have agreed to an initial 18-month contract at the MKM Stadium after City negotiated his release from Championship promotion rivals Middlesbrough.
Dieng’s relocation to the MKM Stadium is anticipated to be completed by Sunday’s FA Cup third round clash against Blackburn Rovers.
According to Hull Live, the EFL has accepted Dieng’s move to the MKM Stadium following talks this week, thus City will not need to move a player to make room for the 31-year-old Swiss-born former Senegal international.
The former QPR stopper, who has 168 Championship appearances, has not played for Boro since December 2024, when he made his 52nd and last appearance against Leeds United. He appeared for QPR 121 times earlier in his career, including 30 shutouts.
Sol Brynn ousted him as Riverside’s number one, and Dieng’s Achilles injury ended any hopes of a move away from Teesside last summer, but Boro now need to send players out to free up space in their squad and have sanctioned his permanent departure.
Dieng’s impending arrival will give competition for number one Ivor Pandur, but the Tigers will not try to sign the Croatian before the transfer market ends on February 2 at 7 p.m.
“Ivor (Pandur) is now number one, but he’s (Dieng) a good goalkeeper who has experience in this league, which is very, very important,” Jakirovic previously told Hull Live about Dieng.
