A new update has emerged on the proposed ownership of Sheffield Wednesday by former professional poker player James Bord, who is linked to Steel City rivals Sheffield United.
Wednesday has been under the administrative authority of Begbies Traynor since October 24th, when Dejphon Chansiri lost his position at Hillsborough following a turbulent and precarious decade in the S6 boardroom.
Henrik Pedersen’s squad and their supporters have since seen the club’s destiny for the current Championship season practically sealed by an 18-point deduction that has planted them to the bottom of the table with minus points, as they prepare for a League One campaign next season.
A new Sheffield Wednesday takeover update has emerged involving James Bord.

Ahead of the frantic Christmas and New Year period, Bord was identified as the administrators’ preferred bidder, beating out Mike Ashley and others.
Begbies Traynor reportedly set a price of around £30 million, which Bord definitely met considering his prominence in the takeover race.
However, it has been revealed that the Dunfermline Athletic co-owner would face issues as a result of his previous involvement in poker and gambling.
Dale Johnson of the BBC noted earlier this week that “the Bord bid still has to pass the EFL’s Owners and Directors’ test, which may have some hurdles to overcome due to his previous involvement in gambling.”
“Bord started his career working for gambling firms Starlizard and Smartodds, won $4.3m (£3.2m) on the pro poker circuit.”
Nixon has now revealed that a significant percentage of the funds raised by Bord were generated in the Middle East, while Dunfermline and another of his clubs, Córdoba CF, are expected to be tied to the Owls.
It has been said that, while this should not be an issue, the EFL is likely to take their time, adding to the worry among Wednesday fans who are looking for answers on the matter.
James Bord’s takeover talks with Sheffield Wednesday have spurred Sheffield United discussion.

It is also well reported that Bord, of course, advised the Blades’ recruitment effort this summer under American ownership firm COH Sports.
The uneven results of those newcomers, some of whom have had loan periods cut short, have fueled further mistrust.
However, people in S6 will be hoping that the 44-year-old can lead Wednesday forward after several years of uncertainty.
