Bristol City have agreed to sign former Liverpool youngster Ranel Young on a free transfer, according to Football Insider sources.
Young, 19, is a free agent after ending his contract with Serbian club FK Usce after less than six months.
After leaving Liverpool last summer, the winger signed for FK Usce on a free transfer, but he is now ready to return to the UK with The Robins.
Bristol City are aiming for the Championship play-offs this season, and they are about to strengthen their roster ahead of the January transfer window, with Young already training with his new colleagues.
Ranel Young has a goal-scoring record for Liverpool’s youth. Bristol City, currently 11th in the Championship, will benefit from Young’s arrival during the mid-season transfer window.
The 19-year-old departed Liverpool’s academy system at the start of the summer after declining to renew his contract, and then astonished everyone with his next decision.
The wideman signed with Belgrade-based FK Usce in Serbia’s second division, although he only made five appearances for the club before deciding to leave.
Young is likely to join Bristol City after a promising youth career at Anfield.
Last season, the prodigy scored four goals for the U21 side in Premier League 2, and he also had his first appearance with Arne Slot’s first-team squad as an unused substitute against Brighton in the Carabao Cup in October 2024.

Young has also played in the UEFA Youth League, which is contested by teams competing in the Champions League that season.
Ranel Young will give cover in attack for Bristol City.
Bristol City drew interest in Fally Mayulu from Leicester City over the summer, but were ultimately able to retain the Frenchman.
He is part of an attacking party at Ashton Gate that need reinforcements, with Emil Riis Jakobsen and Sinclair Armstrong the only other senior possibilities to lead the line.
Scott Twine and Anis Mehmeti have frequently played as second strikers, therefore Gerhard Struber may have first viewed Young as a future project.
The former Liverpool youth lacks the EFL experience of several of the present squad, so it would not be surprising if he started on the bench or was loaned out in January.
