Middlesbrough transfer plans revealed about prospective deal for attacker

Middlesbrough are unlikely to seek a transfer for Elfsborg forward Jalal Abdullai in the January window.

The 20-year-old is regarded as a promising talent in Scandinavia, having broken through at the Swedish club before spending the current season on loan at Molde.

Abdullai’s form over the years has put him on the radar of English clubs, with rumors from Sweden saying Preston and Boro are interested in him.

Middlesbrough are not likely to make a move for Jalal Abdullai

In a surprising twist, Teesside Live has reported that Abdullai is not someone Middlesbrough is hoping to sign in the new year.

They claim that, while Boro is likely to be active, and new manager Kim Hellberg may attempt to sign players from Sweden because to his understanding of the country, Abdullai does not appear to be someone they are tracking.

Hellberg has already spoken about the process of bringing in new signings, with sporting director Kieran Scott in control, even though the head coach will have a significant say in who Boro seek.

It is not surprising that Middlesbrough will search for attacking reinforcements next month, despite the fact that they have been effective in front of goal since Hellberg was designated Rob Edwards’ successor.

Middlesbrough must get January business right if they are to continue their promotion push.

We know that the January transfer window is critical in the promotion race, and Boro are sure to be an appealing option to players given their situation, as there is a very real potential they will be in the Premier League next season.

So they will aim to improve the group from a position of strength, and owner Steve Gibson will undoubtedly realize that this is the time to really push the boat out and support Hellberg.

Clearly, Abdullai would have been a risk because he is a young, unknown player, but Middlesbrough’s recruitment team will know exactly what they need come January.

Boro will undoubtedly be looking for players who can step in and make an immediate impact on the club’s promotion push, perhaps those who are already accustomed to the demands of the Championship’s top tier.

Of course, if Hellberg has any recommendations, they will listen to them, and his deep knowledge of Sweden, in particular, might be really valuable if the club is searching for some potential bargains.

There are still some major games to be played in the coming weeks, but those behind the scenes will have one eye on the window as they attempt to give Hellberg the tools for Boro to continue their campaign to reach the Premier League.
