Aaron Ramsdale issues a statement after taking over for Nick Pope at Newcastle United.
Aaron Ramsdale thoroughly enjoyed his first start for Newcastle United on Saturday.
Ramsdale replaced the injured Nick Pope as Newcastle United defeated Everton 4-1 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Only Eddie Howe knows if Pope would have started if he had been completely healthy, but the 33-year-old was under increasing pressure after a string of high-profile errors.
In any case, a change was made in goal, and Pope’s understudy has performed admirably thus far.
Howe did agree that Ramsdale had little to do with Everton, so it’s premature to draw too many inferences.
Still, the Southampton loanee performed admirably when called upon and was not entirely to blame for Everton’s consolation goal.
Indeed, Ramsdale had a big day.

With that in mind, his confirmation that he hopes to play “many more games” for Newcastle may provide insight into his future plans.
Aaron Ramsdale transfer fee set as Newcastle United consider permanent deal.
It will be fascinating to see what occurs next.
Pope may return to goal once fully healthy, but Ramsdale now appears to have a chance to gain momentum.
The games are coming thick and fast right now, and it appears unlikely Pope will return to the fray for Tuesday’s match against Tottenham.
Southampton want roughly £20 million for Ramsdale, and it will be intriguing to see whether he can convince the club to spend that much money in the summer of 2026.
