Former EFL striker Cameron Jerome is poised to return to football at the age of 39.
After a stellar career in English football, Jerome retired in 2024 with 141 career goals.

The Huddersfield-born striker established himself as one of the Championship’s finest goal scorers throughout periods with Cardiff, Birmingham, Norwich, Derby, and others, and played his final match at Wembley Stadium, when Bolton Wanderers lost to Oxford United in the 2023/24 play-off final.
The 39-year-old veteran striker plans to return to non-league football.
Cameron Jerome is preparing to make his football return.
Newsome Football team revealed the former EFL bagman as a new recruit earlier this week, with the team now sitting at the bottom of the Yorkshire Amateur League Premier Division, the English pyramid’s 12th tier.
The club is headquartered in Jerome’s hometown of Huddersfield and was created in 1999, making it a homecoming for the former England Under-21 international.

The club’s statement on X read: “Power, pace, and extensive experience.” An absolutely fantastic addition to the group. Welcome home, Cameron.”
Jerome scored four goals for Bolton in his final year as a professional as the club strove for a return to the Championship, before his official retirement was announced at the end of the year.
He has since started a mentoring business for strikers, where he helps them deepen their grasp of the position.
Cameron Jerome was an EFL specialist.
After scoring 24 times in 73 appearances for Cardiff City between 2004 and 2006, Jerome moved to Birmingham City, where he would spend the most of his career.
During Jerome’s tenure in the West Midlands, the Blues were promoted to the Premier League twice: in 2007 and 2010.
The striker scored 37 goals for Birmingham before joining Premier League side Stoke City after the Blues were relegated in 2011.
After spending much of his Stoke career as a backup to Peter Crouch, Jerome became an important part of Norwich City’s promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs in 2015, his third time in the top division.
Jerome, a versatile centre-forward, brought more than simply goals to any club, with his back-to-back play and ability to combine smoothly with those around him being crucial components of his game.
He joined Derby in January 2018, bringing expertise at the top as the Rams advanced to the play-offs under Gary Rowett.

After a period with Göztepe in Turkey, the veteran went on to play for MK Dons, Luton Town, and Bolton before retiring from the EFL in 2024.
Jerome resigned from professional football after over 650 games, becoming an EFL icon along the way.
